Classic Rock Bottom

Looking at the calendar, I see today is Feb. 22nd, or 2/22.
So all those 2’s were enough of a reason for me to play some of the great Duos in Rock.
And that is exactly what I will do.
The Indigo Girls have the perfect song for The Power Of Two- plus they are a Duo.
I’ll have a couple of songs regarding the necessary requirements for a Duo.
Wait’ll you hear those, lol!
Plus one of the more influential Duos from the early days of Rock & Roll, and a later 60’s Duo whom they clearly influenced.
To end this opening chapter, with my new-found engineering skills, I will attempt to combine those last two Duos into one song!
Here is my promise- this and the next chapter will simply be a lot of fun to listen to.
That’s all, sometimes you just like the way things turn out- this is one of them.
Or including the next half, should I say TWO or DUO (Latin for Two!) of them, lol?

And here's the link to the first of those TWO halves, at WLSO.FM:

Scott,

Very funny with that first smiley, thanks for that MOVING respect, lol!

And two thumbs up for the Beatle opening,I got it...and laughed again.

The Indigo Girls are contemporary, so not an old one, and I like them.

Glad you enjoyed the Hall and Oates and why it was played, although no one has mentioned the even more fitting ItTakes Two!

I gotta look into "Live from Daryl's House", and thanks for the link.

Also I will give a listen to I Am A Rock by April Wine.

One of the coolest things about this place is there is so much here it sometimes can be tough to get out, lol!

Congratulations on thinking of Just The Two Of Us by Bill Withers!

I considered him, knowing I would have ONE shot at the beginning where I could play an introductory song not by a duo.

So the Beatles, not a duo, or Bill Withers, not a duo?
Went with the Beatles, even the title is shorter and more to the point than Bill's...Two Of Us, lol!

But next time, a different start!

Thanks for listening, writing, and some very enjoyable smiles my friend,

Mike

Some folks love 'em, some folks hate 'em.  I got tired of typing :-), so I went out and found some smileys:

Yeah, it's cool with the smileys. I hope, I don't have to use this very much:

Cool smileys are on here now...  Lets start withy the appropriate respect...

Loved the Beatles opening, I give it .  Get it?  "2" thumbs up?  hahaha..  OK, the smileys are causing trouble today, sorry...

I really loved that Indigo girls track,    ...  stupid smiley!  ok, it was just allright, but Ive never heard them before.

Loved the Hall and Oates though ...  wait a second... hang tight ....  ok no smiley, whew!  Daryl does a new thing called "Live from Daryl's House", and its a monthly web cast where they bring in artists and jam at Daryls house.  Real cool stuff, heres a link if you ever get a chance to check it out...

I just posted a version of I am a rock by April Wine a couple weeks back, I liked it rocked up alot but the original is always a fine listen.

I could only come up with one other track that would be good for part 2...

Just The Two Of Us - Bill Withers

Great show Mike !!

RJ,

Well, as I've said before, never underestimate the power of "The Pell"...to work farm animals into a conversation about rock duos.

Hahahahahaha...it's a true story!
I am shocked that you never heard that Beatle song before!
Where ya been?
Must have been with me, watching my heavy-handed engineering talents, lol!
Come on, it was a nice try!
How about that, I picked the first duo that pops into your mind, Hauling Oats, lol!
Yes, I chose that song for the one plus one reason.
And a funny line on your part with the "or maybe three if you don't do it carefully", lol!
Just a freak that the Everlys have been on lately- maybe because the CD's are still next to me, haven't put them back yet.
Keep bugging me about Kiss, it's alright.
Of course, I don't know them half as well as you.
And I am ONLY playing Duos- except for the last song in Pt.2 which is already here.
Kiss ever do a song about George Washington, lol?
Hey maybe they did!
Always good to hear from you bro,
Mike

Niels,
First things first...cheeseburger was delicious, lol!
It did seem like a good idea for a show, since I am on terrestrial radio on Tuesdays, and it would be 2/22.
I am off on another project, so I hope 3/3 isn't on a Tuesday- no way I am doing Trios right now, maybe next year, lol!
That is such a great line by Lennon...truly laugh out loud funny.
But he spent many years feeling bad about saying it, and apologizing to Ringo.
I may have said it before, but the release of those re-mastered Beatle albums revealed that Ringo could be a great drummer!
Maybe not always...but most times he is on the money.
Besides, I love the overall sound of that song and The Ballad of John And Yoko!
And don't forget, to his credit, of all the Beatles Ringo married the best looking woman!
By far!
So his thudding must be good, lol!
Thanks for the listen and the writing,
Mike

Well, as I've said before, never underestimate the power of "The Pell"...to work farm animals into a conversation about rock duos.

Loved that Beatles song.  This is the first time I've heard it, but it's another great song from their catalog.

Actually, I liked all the songs that you played today, with the possible exception of the mashup at the end there.  Maybe you shouldn't quit your day job to go into engineering any time soon :-)

I was wondering if we would get Hall and Oates, as they are always the first duo that pops into my mind.  And you didn't disappoint.  And what a brilliant pick for the song, One On One.  If you add one and one up you get two.  And If you go one on one for long enough, you do get two, or maybe three if you don't do it carefully.

The Everly Bros. have made several appearances lately.  I know you get tired of me mentioning Kiss, and although they aren't a duo, the song Two Timer would have worked here for me (based on the title, obviously).  I'm gonna keep bugging you 'til you play a Kiss song, you realize that, right?

Simon and Garfunkel rock (sofly, of course).

Great show.

.....I just remembered, what Lennon said, when some journalist asked him, if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world: "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles". Might be true, if you listen to Paul's drumming on "The Ballad of John And Yoko".

Great idea for a show! I've only got one remark:

I've allways thought, that Ringo's drumming on "Two of us", isn't very good, especially the "Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-THUD".

Hope the cheese-burger was good!
