Classic Rock Bottom

First off, I was disappointed that as I got to the radio station it wasn’t snowing.
I had a brought a song with me to play, and the forecast was for wonderful snow!
However, I was able to open the show with a rare demonstration of my excellent interviewing ability- something I just don’t often
get to do, lol!
The featured artist is John and the Cougars and Mellencamps and Smiths and Jones…
His first album was a total failure, and his manager had changed John’s name on the record to Johnny Cougar, without John’s knowledge
or permission.
His 2nd album was not even released in America!
But it yielded a # 1 hit in Australia that eventually found its way here.
Johnny boy continued to improve in his singing and songwriting.
And before I am done, I will verify that with some simply GREAT Rock & Roll!
This is the first of four parts- listening to them will make you a fan if you are not already.
Or make you think I am incredibly annoying- but I get that all the time,
lol!
And man, did I have trouble reading and speaking- these shows were live, and my mouth apparently was taken over by aliens!

Scott, who IS this, lol?

Johnny Cougar-CougarMellencamp-Mellencamp

You like the early stuff eh?
I don't remember, but I think we did the songs somewhat chronologically, so as the series goes on you will like it less and less, lol!
Yeah, I let that interview get away from me, I could have asked a LOT more questions but I forgot he was there.
I felt the same way about Benatar- it was a great song and I was used to her version, but then I found myself enjoying John's version and with that long intro, trying to guess when he was going to start singing.
It was FUN!
YOU overplayed your OWN record?
Shrewd...very shrewd, lol!
Yes, I have a very large S&M audience that follows me around with whips and chains.
Actually, they are following me because I am running away, lol!
I DO like what the women wear though- very very HOT!
Glad you liked this one, and the next part is here.
Thanks as always for listening & writing,
Mike

My Favorite Johnny Cougar-CougarMellencamp-Mellencamp is early Johnny Cougar-CougarMellencamp-Mellencamp.

Investigative reporting is next on your resume, I'm sure of it!  hahahaha.    I wonder if he was educated there too, maybe he got the fear of Jesus there?  So many other questions you could have asked...

I actually had Benatars debut and loved the track I need a Lover, and remember when Cougars came out.  I wasn't impressed at first but after a few listens he won me over at least for this track.  I Loved drum sound on his so much more, and the intro was cool.

I liked his work on the follow up 'Nothing Matters...'  But I was totally on the American Fool band wagon!  That album was played everyday for over a year, this this day it still feels overplayed to me.  hahaha, my own fault...

You have an S&M audience?

Great show, I really enjoyed that...

RJ,
I thought you might like this one, and the others coming.
Your favorite was I Need A Lover eh?
And you like the long intro.
Guess I do too- ah hell, it's his song, and that's what he wanted to do!
Now that you mention it, I like his urgency also.
I wonder what your comment was going to be about that intro, before I broke your train of thought, lol!
In the next part, my FAVORITE song by him ever!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and I intend to keep 'em rollin', lol!

Great show Mike,

The playlist was top notch, and I'm looking forward to the final 3 parts of the show.

My favorite song so far (I like 'em all, by the way) is I Need A Lover (or should I say Liver?).  It's funny, I was already thinking about my comment for the long intro when you said that the band decided to start playing without him.  That was funny.  But I really like that intro, and the guitar playin sounds terrific.  And how urgent does his voice sound during the song?  I love that urgency.

Keep 'em rollin' Mike.
