ROCKOLLECTIONS: APRIL SHOWERS- LET IT RAIN PT.1

This is another of those Theme Series I have long thought about doing.
I am finally getting around to it.
I like the Rain- of course I like Snow better- but Rain can be very enjoyable, romantic, calming and a whole lot of other things...including ruining a special day, lol!
Without a doubt, I will hit on some songs you have forgotten about and have not heard in years in this Series.
And for the sake of accuracy, I will even start with that period just before it Rains.
Let's have some musical fun and get wet together!

Here's the link- raincoats, umbrellas, galoshes, etc. optional- to WLSO.FM:

Jon,
I like rain too, but not necessarily for your reasons.
It is calming, but WITHOUT the kids!
That was a thrilling NYC rain story, lol- and isn't it great when everyone turns around to see who has the squelchy sneakers?
See now, I never have been one for music videos, just don't watch them.
So I have no idea about the bee girl.
But there is nothing tastier than Blind Melon wrapped with prosciutto!
And that listing is hysterical- A, 2 & G?...lol!
Glad you liked everything else, and thanks for writing,
Mike

I like rain.

A) It means I don't have to do yardwork

2) It is calming. I can sit on the porch and watch storms rolling in while yelling at the kids to get the hell off my grass.

G) A few years ago when were in NYC, a big storm rolled in and we were drenched. Could have bought an umbrella from one of them umbrealla vendors, but no. We toughed it out. Worst thing was I had only brought one pair of sneakers so when we went to dinner that night, I had squelchy sneakers on. Now I bring two pairs of sneakers on roadtrips, just in case. This has nothing to do with this show (except the rain part0 but decided to waste everyone's time by telling that story.

I too enjoyed this show, especially since it's about to rain here. The only song that bugs the living hell out of me to this day is that Blind Melon song. Good golly, how I like that song not. The video, the bee girl......ewwwyuck!

Luckily everything else made up for Blind Melon so thumbs up from me!

Scott my man,
Another Poco lover!
And Paul Cotton has written some brilliant songs- one in particular is nagging me but I can't think of it.
Wait...is it Rose Of Cimarron?
Ok, so Poco is automatic for the Golden Pell, lol?
Oh hey, you and RJ, I made a sneaky reference to the Golden Pell in my next blog post!
Yes, and a Richie Furay song from Buffalo Springfield to follow.
Nice catch on that, as I mentioned to RJ they were a breeding ground for groups to come.
Of course I had to play them backwards, but it seemed to work better for what I was trying to do- set it up BEFORE it rains!
Clapton and the Beatles I knew I would be playing before I even started the show, but that obscure Harry Nilsson one came to me as the Beatles were playing.
The joys of free-form radio, lol!
Thanks for listening, writing, and the nice compliment- hope the rest of the series lives up to it,
Mike

RJ,
Well, if you love songs about rain, I have a load of them.
I figured you would know those two you mentioned.
But shame...for shame...not knowing the Simon & Garfunkel Cloudy, not to mention the Beatles song, lol!
Pretty much all the voices blended well, but S & G are always standouts.
The Golden Pell to Poco for Bad Weather is a nice choice, it would have been mine too.
I think I mentioned it is my favorite Poco song...although those things are sometimes changing.
Those vocals are great- actually everything about it is top-notch, for me especially the lyrics.
I see Scott does like it, and knew Poco member Richie Furay from Buffalo Springfield (what a family tree came out of THAT group!).
More songs about Rain are here.
Hope you love THESE, lol!
Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them,
Mike

ah Poco!  One of my most treasured bands ever.  And Bad Weather was one of Paul Cottons first written for the band. Love his writing style and vocal, so good!!  Golden Pell will always default to Poco when they are part of the set list.  Now if you did a full Poco show then the whole show get the Golden Pell.  hahaha.

And then you follow Poco up with a Richie Furay song!  I like this show!

Love the Clapton, Beatles and Harry Nillson tunes as well.

Really fine show!!
