ROCKOLLECTIONS: BACK TO BACK TO SCHOOL PT.2 END

I am going to open up this last half of Back To Back To School with a question.
A question regarding Teachers who use propaganda to brainwash kids, and although the song is from 1964, the situation has never been worse than it is today.
Then it is on to how maybe the reason I hated school was because when you think about it, the whole day for a kid revolves around it, and being told what to do.
So quickly the Rebel comes into our show, not unlike myself, making the Teachers mad.
Got a few tunes about the opposite sex attraction, and a terrific but obscure song by Chuck Berry that demonstrates the awful situation of how, if you go to school with your girlfriend, after you break up you still have to see her everyday,
Finally, if you are anything like me, there was only one song to end with.
And that’s the one I chose!
Thankfully, for many of us, all this School stuff is from a distance.
If you are living it, I am sorry for you, lol!
Enjoy the music and keep on rockin’!
Here are the links to listen, and after 3 weeks vacation I return to work Wednesday- never realized how similar the feeling is, lol, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

RJ,
Being honest is what I expect and like from you.
I don't know which half is better, but it seems more people have listened to this one you don't like as much, lol!
No bragging, but that Supertramp song is an example of what I think I do best, keep people off balance...hit 'em with a memory even if it's a vague one.
The Beach Boys and Jan And Dean frequently sang on each other's songs.
From the moment I thought of doing the Back To School Series even the year before, I always knew it would be the Steely Dan song to close it all out.
I just worked backwards from there!
Dynamite song by them.
This time the Golden Pell goes to Chuck Berry...WOW!
A surprising pick, and you probably never HAVE heard Lonely School Days before- I know I've never heard it on the radio.
I just happened to come across it in a boxed set, and I liked what he was saying.
Truly, you have got to get you a LOT of Chuck Berry...like me, lol!
Thanks again for the listen and writing,
Mike

Jon,
Your parents were right.
And hey, don't blame Catholic school for what you are now, lol!
Oh yeah, I like big "assets".
See, now you bought the the Concert For Kampuchea album for Queen and Rockpile.
You can't blame Catholic school for that, lol!
Incidentally, I have been listening deep to Queen lately, never realized how good they were aside from the hits!
Blind Faith is a great pick, guess you gotta go with Derek & The Dominoes too.
Seconds of pleasure- that's why I would say it first, lol!

Well, I'll be honest and say I liked the previous show better.  Of course, this one was not without merit.  Like that Supertramp song.  I think I've heard it, just not sure.  I may even have it, just not sure.  And I thought that Jan And Dean song might be the Beach Boys.  I'm not surprised one of the BB's co-wrote it.

The Steely Dan song to close it out was fabulous.  I really like that one.

So the Golden Pell goes to....................................Chuck Berry.  I don't recall hearing Lonely School Days before, but that's a great song.  I have got to get me some Chuck Berry.  I just have to.

Yeah, Catholic school. We weren't Catholic but my parent believed we would get a better education going to a Catholic school. Don't know if I did. Definite culture shock going from there to public school. I also think Catholic school turned me into what I am now, whatever that is. Not in a good way, either.

You would think memories of a teacher would kinda fade, Maybe she wasn't that hot? Nope! Looked in the yearbook and she was definitely hot. Wonder what she looks like now, though. She had, ummm, big "assets" if you know what I mean (and I think you do).

I remember when the Concert For Kampuchea album came out, and I bought it because it had Queen and Rockpile. That's kind of odd, I think, considering the other artists on the album, but I felt I hit the motherlode with just those two artists.

Trying to think of other one-off albums.....Blind Faith, Arc Angels are two great albums as well. I'm sure there are others, but Rockpile and those other two come to mind.

Seconds of pleasure. That's what she said!

Jon,
Whoa, you wrote a lot...I must have touched a nerver, lol!
Them German women are hot, and I too resent not having been seduced by a smokin' hot teacher.
Hell if they were going to teach me something, sex would have been the most useful!
Hahahahaha...you purposely stayed late in junior high to get extra help with German!
Jeez Jon, even in junior high you were a character, lol!
But the statute of limitations WOULD be over- you'd be free and clear to brag your ass off!
"Hey, did you ever hope that your school had burned down so you didn't have to go to that first day of school?"
Yes I did, and other methods of destruction!
I went to Catholic high school, no long hair there either.
But man, the principal was close friends with your parents...holy crap, that's awful!
I don't think my parents ever MET him!
Hahahahaha...ducking the bats in the theater- was this written by Hunter Thompson or you, LOL?
Supertramp was in there, and maybe it didn't sound like didn't sound like Chuck Berry cause he slowed himself down in that one, but Chuck it was.
I fully, wholeheartedly agree- ROCKPILE! Their one album is possibly the greatest, at least one of the greatest one-off albums of all time.
Of course I have "Seconds Of Pleasure", and I have used that expression with women as a joke for years, usually preceeded by the word "Literally", lol!
In fact, I think I got that live Rockpile song as a bonus track on that CD.
I know you don't like Bruce, but I love his line "We learned more from a 3-minute record than we ever learned in school."
I can still smell the crap!
That would great, like a time capsule, if your locker is still filled with your junk.
I passed my old high school in a car once, never even gave a thought to going in.
Your high school won the NJ high school football championship by beating Rahway, a state prison?
Jon, this is fascinating insight into why you are the way you are, lol!
"Memories Suck"- I smell a song in there...I'd get right on it if I were you!
Thanks for the listen (uh you DID listen right?) and writing,
Mike

You know, both my German teachers were smoking hot, one in junior high and the other in high school. Yet they didn't try to pick us up, if you know what I mean. What a bummer. A friend of mine constantly stated that he wanted to tickle the high school teacher's ankles with his foot. He never did, at least that I know of. Seems kind of odd, but whatever.

I purposely stayed late in junior high to get extra help with German. Nothing came out of it though. But, if something did, I wouldn't say anything. But maybe I could since it was so long ago and the statute of limitations has gotta be over, right?

Don't know I've even brought this up. Maybe I'm living in the past.

Hey, did you ever hope that your school had burned down so you didn't have to go to that first day of school? I did. I also cut school one day because my parents believed in short hair and I felt it was too short so I hid out in the woods across the street from our house. I got busted, the principal narced me out. Didn't help that he was close friends with my parents.

Then came the time that I refused to get a haircut. After much fighting, I won and was told that is was fine, I would never have to get a haircut again. I could be a hippy (in the 80's????). Then I smoked an illegal substance right before watching Andy Warhol's Dracula in 3D. Maybe it was Frankenstein. Who knows. We were the only people ducking the bats in the theater, I'm guessing it was because we were stoned.

Hey, there's music here! Supertramp and more!

That didn't sound like Chuck Berry, but guess you know stuff?

ROCKPILE! Their one album is the greatest, probably one of the greatest one-off albums of all time. If you don't have "Seconds Of Pleasure" in your collection, your collection ain't complete.

That first song is true. So much crap taught in school that I just gave up listening. That's why I failed every course in high school. That's why I am the way I am now.

I did go back to my old high school a few years ago. It didn't change at all, at least from the outside. They did film a movie there though. I wonder if my locker is still filled with my junk? I never emptied it out the last day I went schooling there.

Actually, our high school won the NJ high school football championship, I believe it was during my senior year. They beat Rahway. Kind of surprising since Rahway is just a huge state prison.

Memories suck.
