ROCKOLLECTIONS: HOME FOR THANKSGIVING 2014 PT.1

There are songs I love that are a perfect fit for Thanksgiving, and I could play them every year.
But I don't like to repeat Songs, there are too many that never get played.
So I went deep into the Music Library this year, let's see how that goes.
Once again, I remind you that Thanksgiving is the most heavily traveled time in the U.S.
But that doesn't mean we can't leave the country for Dinner.
Oh, and listen closely to the beginning of the show.
If like some people over the years, you wait and listen on Thanksgiving Day, kick back, loosen your belt buckle and enjoy!
At any rate, it's time to go Home For Thanksgiving!

Sure on the Dr. Hook thing.

Not at all familiar with Terry Reid, just a guess at how you spell it.

I hope your Thanksgiving was great.  We hosted it at our house for the first time this year and it turned out well.

RJ,
Cranberry Sauce...I was real proud of that start, took me YEARS to think of it, lol!
Walk Right In WAS done by Dr. Hook, I am listening to it now.
Funny thing is, I was gonna play it by them, but at the last second decided to go with the original by the Rooftop Singers.
You want it by Dr. Hook?
Well Come Back Home by the Byrds does go on on forever- a good way to eat up some show time, lol!
I didn't think of The Beatles bookend until I played it back, too late to say anything.
Good pickup on your part!
And the Golden Pell to When You Get Home by Terry Reid- have you heard of him, cause you spelled the last name correctly?
"It sounded vocally like the love child of Robert Plant and Janis Joplin."
Now that I would never have thought of, but I like it, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Cranberry Sauce...what a weird little start.

Hey, I've actually heard Walk Right In.  Didn't know the artist though.  Sounds like it could have easily been performed by Dr. Hook.

Well Come Back Home by the Byrds was cool as well.  However, the ending is really weird and it goes on forever and ever.

You found a way to bookend the show with The Beatles, which was nice.  In between all of that, I'm giving the Golden Pell to When You Get Home by Terry Reid.  It sounded vocally like the love child of Robert Plant and Janis Joplin.

Nice half.

Jon,
Yeah, that Byrds song, at least the instrumental part, has the same ominous feel as the Doors that would easily fit in Apocalypse Now.
Send me your pan drippings, lol!
Not the type of songs you would be playing while on the way to gran mawmaw's house- well I explained that, didn't want to repeat too many from previous years, and yet I did want to, but so many songs never get platyed!
Man, you are a troublemaker- start something and then back away and let it play out, lol!
Funny you brought up Detroit, as I made a snide remark about that loser city coming up in Part 2.
Hey, record it and bring it to dinner with you, lol!
That's how you roll. That's what you do.That's who you are.
And that's why nobody Gives Thanks for you, LOL!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

That song by The Byrds? Kinda reminds me of "The End" by The Doors. Now, imagine if they used the Byrds song in "Apocalypse Now" instead of the Doors song. Just imagine that! I think it would have fit in.

Yeah, I've got pan dripping for you!

After the first couple songs, the songs took a decidedly twisted bent. Not the type of songs you would be playing while on the way to gran mawmaw's house, unless you were going to have some LSD laced holiday fun.

Then again, every Thanksgiving get-together turns into an LSD laced get-together even though they might not be drugs involved. Someone will bring up something stupid and then there'll be harsh words and I'll be sitting in the background, laughing my ass off.

This year I might just start something and then back away and let it play out. Some people are so pro-Detroit, they claim it's a great place to live. 60% of drivers don't have auto insurance in Detroit. It is AGAIN the murder capital of the US. I also believe it has the most cars stolen per 100,000 peeps in the nation.

Yes. A great place to live. I'll bring it up this Thursday and let things play out.

That's how I roll.

That's what I do.

That's who I am.
