Classic Rock Bottom

It's the Jukebox or the Juke Box this time out (either spelling is acceptable), that coin-operated Phonograph.
I'll have some History here- both about that machine and with the Music I'll play.
And see if you can pick up on the thread that holds together the longest set in here.
I forgot to mention that it was 78's that replaced cylinders on the original Jukebox.
Then in the 50's, the 45 RPM singles took over.
To be continued next week, with a Fury, lol!

RJ,
Yeah, those Kinks are a staple, but they are so good and never get enough credit.
No suspense, they get the Golden Pell right off the bat, lol!
It was probably the best song I played it the half, but that old Teresa Brewer song brings back such nice childhood memories of parents and aunts & uncles playing it I have a special award for it!
No kidding, you dug the Miller version of Jukebox Saturday Night more than the rocker?
I remember being a dumb kid and thinking Glenn stole it from Nino & the Ebb Tides...which is a time impossibility, lol!
You know, when you start a series that has some history to it like the Jukebox, sometimes the seemingly best way to begin is with the older songs and work your way up.
That explains all the oldies- but they are sprinkled throughout the series.
Just turned out that way as I thought of songs.
I hadn't heard that Rickie Lee Jones song, Jukebox Fury, in so long, it was a joy to hear it again.
Thanks for the listen and writing, thought I lost you, lol,
Mike

Totally dig that first song Mike.  The Kinks are a staple for you.  And the guitar work was impressive.  So I'm giving the Golden Pell to The Kinks right off the bat.

I prefer the first version of Jukebox Saturday Night that you played.

After that, the oldie feel just multiplied.  Maybe a bit too much oldies for me.

The only real competition for The Kinks and the GP was Rickie Lee Jones.  Jukebox Fury was cool, but not good enough to win the GP.

Jon,
Nick Fury? Dead? OH NO!!!
My "with a fury" was just my cute way of introducing that song...I'm like that, lol!
I agree, it's either "soda" or "pop", and I have NEVER said "pop".
No self-respecting New Yorker (or Jerseyite I don't think) ever would!
I don't know,  I guess you could say I am old school- what can I do, those were the songs I thought of?
And while I can't answer what "old music" is, to me ANYTHING I have never heard before is NEW!
Wait, I think the cutoff for me is pre-Beatles, they are true oldies
Ah, you are in question mode again, I do that too, lol!
Glad you thought that half was cool.
As to your final sentence, this is clearly labeled Jukebox Music Pt.ONE you know...hehehehehe!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

"With a fury"? Nick Fury? But he's dead! Ooops, ruined yet another movie.

Soda pop. Not used any more. Now it's either "soda" or "pop". It should be "soda", "pop" sounds too silly.

You went completely old school on this show except for the first and last song. Ok, they're also old, but not as old as the others. I guess you could say that every song was old school. That's deep. That also makes me wonder what "old music" actually is now.

How many time can I use "? Is there a limit?

Anyway, for some reason anything from around '65 and later is considered old to me. Anything from '65 on isn't. Why is that?

Cool show.

"Jukebox".

"Juke box".

There was a song about a jukebox hero you know........
