ROCKOLLECTIONS: JUKEBOX MUSIC PT.2

I began last week with Music dedicated to the glorious Jukebox.
They started as wooden boxes and graduated to those beautiful old Wurlitzers, Seeburgs and Rockolas.
Michael Martin Murphey calls them, "slot machines pounding out the beat"!
Last week the Jukebox was a nickel, this week the price goes up.
And can there be anything Spiritual about the Jukebox?
Sure there can...I'll explore that too.
Join me for some more Jukebox Music!

RJ,
That sure is the guy that did Wildfire, he doesn't always sound like that.
I love Chuck Berry music, he has a sound that is distinctive much like Bo Diddley has one.
While his music does sound similar in songs (although I will play some Blues or Reggae etc. by him someday), he was called Rock & Roll's first poet because of the stories his tunes tell.
And Chuck wrote and recorded Little Queenie well before the Stones did it- I just felt like hearing it Live by them- and so you could like the guitar solo, lol!
I've stayed away from that Joan Jett song over the years precisely because it was overplayed and I didn't want it to go stale on me.
It's why I don't listen to Radio.
I'll take a bow for playing Two Dollars In The Jukebox, I really enjoy bringing back a forgotten memory- it's the BEST fun for me!
You'd like Rory Gallagher- unfortunately what I played was a bonus track and not fully indicative of his playing, I was just sticking to the topic.
When I considered the Theme, for some reason the Little Anthony & Imperials A Prayer & A Jukebox was one of the first I thought of, stuck in my memory somewhere and for some reason, but it wasn't on a Best Of I had so I moved on.
Then while looking for other songs, I found another Greatest Hits by them it WAS on, so I had to play it!
In answer to that last question, no, lol!
Ashamed to say I don't know him or it.
Thanks for listening, writing and confusing the Parts- see you stayed away too long bro, lol,
Mike

Michael Martin Murphy, isn't that the guy that did Wildfire?  It doesn't sound like him at all.

Chuck Berry, he might just be a staple for you.  You play him a good bit.  I have one question regarding him...do his solo's ever sound different?

The Stones song was really cool.  I really liked the guitar solo, and it made me think of Chuck Berry.  And did you say Chuck wrote it?

Joan Jett, I was wondering if you would get around to this one.  I was never a big JJ fan.  This song is decent but it definitely got overplayed way back when.

I always dug that song Two Dollars In The Jukebox, but had kind of forgotten it, so I'm glad that you played it.  Didn't remember that it was Eddie Rabbitt either, so even more coolness brought forward by the Pellmeister.

Rory Gallagher, always wondered what his stuff sounded like.  Other than the nice geetar playing, not really sure I'm missing much.

Those last two songs didn't really move me.

Nice show though.

I wonder if you'll go country with Joe Diffie in the final part????

No, the Stones were talking to the crowd, therefore each (at least male) had one.

So THOUSANDS of ya-ya's, lol!
Show 3nd half coming soon.

Isn't "ya'ya" plural. Does that mean you need to have penii?

Comment by Mike Pell on May 7, 2014 at 12:17am
Jon,
Those wooden boxes in the basement, they are COFFINS!
Definite cause for concern, lol!
I think a ya-ya is either your soul or your penis...not really sure!
Been a long time since I even heard anyone mention Sam Goody.
It may well be the first time I played Rory Gallagher.
I seem to recall one other time, but that was before I put the show on the internet so you would never have heard it.
You crack me up...Eddie Wabbit- hahahahaha!
I was the hero of that show!
One final half coming.
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike
