ROCKOLLECTIONS: MARDI GRAS PT.1

This week it is Fat Tuesday, last day of the Mardi Gras, and the last time to party like crazy before Lent begins the next day.
I’ll have songs relating to Mardi Gras, naturally- beginning with the New Orleans legend Professor Longhair, and his classic that pops up every year for the Carnival.
Plus the story of the disputed Jockamo, the song innocently recorded, renamed…and writing credit claimed for by a Girl Group in 1965, AHA!
In addition, through both these two halves (and beyond), I’ll be celebrating the pioneering contributions of New Orleans musicians to Rock & Roll from its earliest days onward.
So join me for a virtual drunken bacchanal, (the only kind I do nowadays, lol.)

Well I can't fool you guys, lol!

I had intended to do Angels prompted by Valentines Day- must have pulled out over a hundred Angel songs, in remembrance of an old girlfriend who died on Valentines Day six years ago.

She called me in December 2006, said she had cancer and was dead just about 2 months later- only 43 and strong and healthy as they come.

I don't know why, maybe it was emotional, but every damn time I sat down to do the show I couldn't get it going.

Had great songs, great ideas, but I had no enthusiasm.

Finally by Saturday night I decided to let it go and repeat last year's show.

I still intend to do Angels though, just don't know when...whenever the funk passes.

She was the one I should have married, and I can't disassociate Valentines and her.

Again, you guys are sharp!
