Classic Rock Bottom

It is now an Official Game, so even if it rains it counts, lol!
There is a local flavor to this Rockollections Episode.
But not exclusively.
I know I am surprising a good amount of people who never realized how many songs there are about Baseball.
I myself have known it for years, and why I have always wanted to do this Play Ball Series.
Which is just a long winded way of saying this Series will continue, but end, next week!
Do join me, for an interesting Musical Journey with the Boys Of Summer In Autumn.

RJ,
Yeah, I thought about people who weren't Mets or Yankees fans, but I went with it anyway.
Seems I always do, lol!
I don't mind having a local NYC flavor.
There is enough of that "he could be from anywhere" stuff on the radio, I like being different.
Doesn't come up much, but when it does I ride with it.
That is a brilliant George Carlin bit (another New Yorker), honed to perfection by the time he performed that.
Paradise By The Dashboard Light gets a Classic Pell, and it's the first time I ever played it on the show.
Knew I'd get to it eventually.
I actually DID have sex while that song was on the radio...just happened to come on...I wasn't going to stop, lol
Bat out Of Hell is a GREAT album, almost every track is a winner, and Meat Loaf never approached its consistency again.
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

I have to say, I'm not a Mets or Yankees fan.  So the majority of this show just didn't appeal to me on that basis alone.

But I really enjoyed the George Carlin bit.  Especially the line about Bill Parcels in his football uniform.  That was hilarious.

And you closed it out with a true classic that's dear to my heart.  One of the best albums of all time if you ask me.  And I remember thinking how cool this song was when I was a kid.  So great pick, and I'm giving Paradise By The Dashboard Light a Classic Pell this week.

Jon,
That means you are predictable...maybe even able to predict!
Go Cubbies!
I chipped a tooth skating into a goalpost once, that ice can really bring you when you fall going fast.
But yes, I would have given the teeth...the smile of a true hockey player, lol!
They say there are only 7 minutes of action in a football game- the rest of the time guys are running on & off the field, lining up for the snap, etc.
I mean I like it, but it's not my favorite.
That's true about announcers.
It was a real loss when Ralph Kiner died, in recent years he brought tremendous insight into his rare appearances, talking about not only the old days, but a hitch in a batter's swing, how he would pitch to him.
Keith Hernandez has developed into an excellent anouncer now too for the Mets, stories about guys he played with and against, and giving inside stuff about the game in progress.
The Yankee song is played all the time on their broadcasts, but an instrumental.
And I was surprised too at the year it came out, seems they were trying to copy the Mets.
There are many different versions of that George Carlin routine- that was from an HBO special I recorded.
I went back and listened to an older one, but this was better cause he had mastered the cadence and wordplay, done to perfection, and you can tell the audience has heard it before because they cheer it!
Phil SAID he didn't know that his words would be used in a raunchy way in that Meat Loaf song.
But no one ever believed it, I don't, lol!
Jon liked this!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Well, look at that. KC vs Baltimore and SF vs. SL. My predictions are coming true!

You would have fit right in as a hockey player if you were willing to give up your teeth.

I used to watch foosball, but I came to the realization that it's an incredibly boring game, it takes 3 hours to play an hour game. When I used to watch, I would fall asleep. Other than the Super Bowl (which I fast forward thru so the game lasts maybe 45 minutes because I'd rather watch the commercials), I no longer watch foosball. Haven't watched a game for probably 20 years.

On the other hand, I can watch baseball from start to finish as long as the announcers are good. Sucky announcers tune me out, but good announcers keep you in the game no matter how bad your team might be doing.

So, the Stankees stole the idea for a song from me Metsies? Figures. I don't recall hearing that Stankee song, but while listening, I noticed how similar it was to the Mets song. What a bunch of thieving morons.

I have a different version of that George Carlin routine (I think). It might be the same, but it seems that my version might be older? I dunno. It is funny, no matter what version it is, even though there might be only one version.

Supposedly, Phil didn't know that his words would be used in a raunchy way in that Meatloaf song. Do you believe that?

I liked this show.
