ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER LOLLAPALOOZA PT.3

Coming in with this one a little early, it's Next Week This Week!
I am on vacation and want to see if it works.
I'll open up this chapter from the 2006 shows, with a couple of funky summer classics and our annual playing of All Summer Long.
Then I had this idea that reading the dictionary definition of Summer might be entertaining- I don’t know what I was thinking!
Damn, there was nothing I could do to save that...once you start...ah the perils of live radio, lol!
But I have the BEST new summer song (new to me back then) that I have heard in years.
Summertime Thing by Chuck Prophet.
From which we proceeded to play songs of summertime things!
And it truly didn’t occur to me until I was there and saw the date, that I was one day past my 8th anniversary at that station.
Time sure does fly.
How in the hell did they put up with me?
There were times it came very close- hehehehehe!
I am still there, and they are still putting up with me!
And coming sometime in October (I'll explain why that month), I'll have shows for my now 15TH Anniversary.
I have BIG plans for that!

RJ,
Glad you thought it was a good one too.
That was funny, the sound of the vinyl, and I do remember asking people if I could borrow the War song- got nowhere, lol!
You may have heard and like the Beach Boys song because I've played it before.
The Golden Pell to Death Cab For Cutie, does Jon know, LOL?
I know you like Johnny Rivers as much as I do, and Summer Rain is a Classic!
For shame, kidding about my favorite album by my favorite band, lol!
And very weird thought bubble hitting us both on the Summer Breeze!
Thanks for the listen and writing, hope you don't mind either that probably won't write again till I get back- I hate damn laptops, lol,
Mike

Jon,
I am still on vacation, nice...no people!
I believe Mike Andrade played the Chuck Prophet song a few years ago when he was doing shows.
It's probable that my 2006 pre-dates him, lol!
I like some Seals & Crofts now & then, not too surprised at what I hear though.
Deathcab For Cutie? Yeah ME, I heard of them, LOL!
And I like them enough to buy you a $5 CD.
True...true...I can annoy you much better now- looking forward to future annoyances, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, glad you thought it was strong, probably won't write again till I get back, hope you don't mind,
Mike

Oh yeah, this was a good one bro.

The first two tunes were cool.  I really like the sound of the vinyl, even if it's been used as a skateboard or an oversized coaster.  I even liked the Beach Boys song.  I have actually heard that one before.

Summertime Thing by Chuck Prophet was good.  But I'm giving the edge and the Golden Pell to Death Cab For Cutie.  Liked that one a lot.

But you saved the best for next to last.  Summer Rain by Johnny Rivers is just one of the all time greats.  The only bad thing is his shout out to that overrated album by that overrated band that you love so much.  Just kiddin'.  And my first though was, he should follow this up with Summer Breeze.  And you did.  Awesome.

Hey, that Chuck Prophet song was really good. Think I have heard i somewhere before, not sure where though. It sounded a tad familiar.

A month or so ago I bought a Seals & Croft disc, it was sitting in the Wal Mart $5 bin. Just needed some S&C I guess. Funny, it's one of those artists where you listen to a disc and never knew they did a certain song. Just wanted you to know.

Deathcab For Cutie? You? Heard of them, think the name sucks so the music would suck, yet this song ain't too bad. Yet, even if I saw them in the $5 bin (either a CD or the actual band) I wouldn't buy it/them. THat's the way it goes.

Hey, this show started off strong and ended strong. Nothing annoyed me. But it is an old show, so you wouldn't have known to annoy me quite yet.
