ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE BRITISH INVASION PT.2

As noted before, 50 years ago on Feb. 7th 1964, the Beatles landed at Kennedy Airport met by reporters and mostly screaming girls, and Beatlemania and The British Invasion commenced to be born.
Those two terms may seem interchangeable now, but I'll point out the difference.
And the Beatles landed here for their appearance 2 days later, Feb. 9th 1964, on the Ed Sullivan Show- watched by a then record 73 Million viewers!
Remember, this country was still reeling from the Kennedy Assassination only two and a half months prior, so these charming Lads From Liverpool were a very welcome diversion.
For them, and for us, it was perfect timing.
To start, I'll be playing a few groups or artists that have a Beatle connection that I will be revealing at some later date in the vague future.
It seemed back then that if you were British, you had an advantage over our homegrown groups and artists in Rock & Roll and on the Radio.
But that takes nothing away from the Quality of their Music.
I will be proving that here, and continuing next week.
Let's get Invaded- this kind not only is painless, but it makes you feel good!
That is, if you think tapping your foot, snapping your fingers, bopping your head, dancing around or whatever the hell you do when you hear catchy tunes, feels good, lol!
Enjoy!

RJ,
Yeah, more Brits and yet more next week!
Your favorites were all legitimate good groups, but I see that set at the beginning, with a couple I will return for a reason later, didn't go so well with you either, lol!
That last Beatle cover was by a group called The Silkie.
And they did release that song just BEFORE the Beatles, so there already was a single out there.
The Classic Pell to The Zombies and She's Not There.
Funny, you are the 2nd person to pick that one over the other, which I slightly prefer.
The Zombies were a terific band.
I gotta play that Odyssey & Oracle album by them someday- it's a Classic!
Thanks for the listen and writing bro,
Mike

More Brits huh?  Well, I liked it.

No bad songs at all.  How 'bout that.

My favorites were those by Peter And Gordon, The Zombies and The Dave Clark Five.

That last little cover you played was nice too, but I didn't quite catch the band name.

I think we're going Classic Pell again.  Let's give it to The Zombies and She's Not There.  That is one killer song.  Not there only killer song for sure.  Every time you play 'em I like 'em.  So good job.

Jon,
That ain't the first time you've asked me not to do that, and I did a LOT of singing in that one, lol!
I am the Professor, and so the original Bits And Pieces before Joan Jett.
Matter of fact, I am considering doing a now & then Series with hits/not hits and the Originals!
If that's what you expect when you go see One Direction, why go, lol?
So you don't like Cilla Black much, so I will play her again.
I agree, the last half of the show was better, the perils of free-form- but I had an idea and went with it...as always!
I once did a show with The Zombies, Argent and good old Rod Argent.
Have you heard some of his excellent solo records?
Good idea Jon, I am admitting nothing...don't know what you are talking about...but a good sweep for bugs, top to bottom, is in order.
Listening and watching was taking too much of my time, lol!
Don't forget the garage, trees, lawn, yard, etc.
And tin foil hats are all the rage in New York, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and my listen and watching,
Mike

Don't sing, Mike. Don't sing. Please.

The first time I heard that Bits And Pieces song? Joan Jett!

Maybe it's my mood today, the first half of the show was just ok, the screaming on the first song was annoying. Guess that's what I'll expect when I go see One Direction in a couple weeks.

The last half of the show was much better, at least to me. Recently I was reading up on Argent so it's odd that you played The Zombies. It happens to many time, Mike. I think you might have my place bugged. Now I'll have to go to Radio Shack and buy some anti-spy stuff and check my place for bugs. And then put tin foil on the windows. And then make a tin foil hat so you can't use one of those mind reading devices.
