ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.5

Alright, look at it this way, this is the 3rd HOUR, not the 3rd week commemorating Feb 3rd, 1959.
And this episode is about Buddy Holly because Holly was the major loss.
J.P. Richardson, The Big Bopper, undoubtedly would have returned to Radio.
Richie Valens was a wild card- he could have fizzled out or gone on to better things.
But Buddy already had an extensive catalogue of Music that musicians continue to play to this day.
I'll play him too- by Buddy himself and by others, including some contemporary Artists.

I vaguely remember that song.

He's got the glasses but doesn't measure up to Holly in song quality.

Elvis Costello has the glasses too, and sometimes puts out great stuff.

But Buddy Holly has no worries about either.

Jon,
Yes, we really did have a cough button.
Unlike the talk show people, I could hold out until I played a song and cough my brains out.
I so rarely used the button I thought I'd let everyone know I was, lol!
Come on man, that first song was a beauty.
Like I said in the show (and you usually don't listen, lol), I think Buddy would have continued to write songs with hooks, maybe his lyrics would ahve gotten even better and he would have ended up in an esteemed position like Paul McCartney.
And also still performing.
Funny, though I know the name, Donnie Iris brings no memory.
Make him a song of the day, might help me know him.
Thanks for the listen and writing, and hold onto your head,
Mike

You coughed, but we didn't hear it.

This was a rocking show UNTIL you got to his softer side. That first song almost took me out of it, but I got back in.

Overall, a really good show. Rocked harder than I expected, now I wonder what he would have sounded like in the 70's. Maybe like Donnie Iris? Could make your head explode if you think REALLY hard about that.
