ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE HOUSE WE BUILT IS NOW HOME PT.1

It is time to close it all out, and this is Part One of the last two Episodes.
The House We Have Built Has Become A Home!
There are a couple of things I discovered doing this Building A House With Song Series:
First, this was tougher than I expected;
And also, while I thought it would be light-hearted, it turns out many songs about Houses are sad ones.
On the plus side, the Theme made me think of long forgotten songs I may never have played otherwise.
Rather than grade myself on how I did, I have decided to blame someone else for it all...HE Built The House!
It wasn't me, lol!
Included here are some of those distant-memory tunes that I hope will trigger an "OH WOW!" Moment or two for you.
But for some you will be hearing them for the first time.
All in all, a nice mix of Music to both touch you, and make you smile.

Here's your choice of links to listen, and I hope you like what you hear, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

"You're breaking my heart, you're tearing it apart, so F--- you!"

Pure brilliance from Harry, and guts- we've all wanted to say that, lol!

Yeah, you could play those two in your isolated world garage...where you do those...THINGS!

And laugh your ass off, lol!

RJ,
I know what that's like, I had the same kind of day.
Then went directly to a friend's house to watch the Bruins/Blackhawks game.
Goddam Chicago won...and even worse there is that gaping hole of no more Hockey!
Now I feel if I put the TV on, I'll just see an empty arena with melting ice, lol!
Nice call on the Golden Pell to Three Flights Up by Don McLean- a GREAT song!
And I too would have had Neil Diamond as very close second.
Thanks for the listen and writing, brief as it was, lol,
Mike

Maybe it's just me, but to play "The Puppy SOng" and then follow it up with the "F" song is just too funny. To me, in my little isolated world.

Jon,
Wow, this was your favorite in the Series.
You know, I read that thing about the Alan Parsons Project when I first woke up yesterday morning and you had me going along with you...I was all groggy!
Then I caught on, you hump, lol!
Yeah it sucks Don McLean will be remembered for really only one song- he must get very tired of singing it.
He is so much more than that, check into that Tapestry album.
And I once took American Pie apart, line by line explaining what it is about.
Are you a big Harry Nilsson fan?
If so, I have a new respect for you, and welcome to the small club!
I mean, you knew about Harry's song with the F'er in it, lol!
I admit to liking Neil Diamond- he made the leap from great innocuous tunes to social commentary easily, he's a great songwriter.
Now let's get this straight (you ALWAYS do this!), the railroad only had rights to the land in the middle of the house, the guy wouldn't sell the rest, keeping the other halves.
Let's just say it's a smller than normal train!
The lyrics are funny, in my mind they went with the Billy Brag before it, and the damn song was out in 1956!
I remember in the recesses of my mind, relatives playing it.
So it brought back a nice memory for me.
And there you go, now stop obsessing and get back on your mediaction, lol!
Hahahahaha...you should go thru each and every song, I am alone with you here, RJ was too busy!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and the usual laugh,
Mike

No time to talk this morning, but I enjoyed the show.

Golden Pell goes to Three Flights Up by Don McLane...a close, very close second was Neil Diamond.

This was a fine, fine show, probably my favorite "House" show. I never new the Alan Parsons Project was around in the 60's though, plus it doesn't sound like the typical APP. Amazing what a few yea....oh. Alan Price. Got stupid for a moment.

Funny that Don McLean will be remembered for really only one song. This wasn't bad at all, nice geetaring.

Ya know, I could go thru each and every song, but I won't. Is there really a bad Harry Nilsson song? Same with Neil Diamond. He's one of those artists you can't really admit to liking, but he has some fine tracks. Wonder if he ever dropped the f-bomb in any of his songs though. That's what makes Harry so cool.

But if the railroad tracks go thru the house, doesn't that mean there's no house? Unless it was a model train set, then that makes sense. But a normal train would make the house obsolete so what is it doing on thie program, hmmm???

Hmmmm?
