ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE NYC MARATHON PT.2 END

This musical NYC Marathon is at the 13 mile mark, so the Race is either half over or there is still half to go- kind of like that old glass of water and its fullness, lol!
There are many reasons to Run, and we'll open with the most important I can think of.
Many years ago when I first thought of doing this show, a flurry of songs immediately came to mind.
One was by Laura Nyro, who is shamefully neglected by Commercial Radio, but we'll hear her.
I myself have never been into Long Distance Running, it's too vague for me, I much prefer to see the goal I am running for.
In Baseball, going from first to third on a single...that makes sense, and there is the possibility of being thrown out.
The times I have jogged with people I am bored out of my skull, there's no point to it- after awhile I find I have nothing to say to the other person...and little breath left to do so, lol!
But I do admire Marathon Runners, giving it all they have to finish the Race, reaching inside mentally and physically for that last ounce of whatever it takes.
Best wishes to all who are running Sunday in the Marathon, may you make it all the way with your best time ever!
And keep on Running for many years to come!
Oh, and I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!
Undoubtedly next year I will return to that.
But one never knows...!

Mike, did you know that most runners prefer not to talk while running a marathon?  So of course, Silent Running by Mike + The Mechanics is a missing song.

Anyway, despite missing the above song, this was a terrific show.  You can work a Beatles song into any subject can't you?   I enjoyed everything you played with the possible exception of The Coasters.  And I had a hard time deciding who to give the Golden Pell to.

The best song you played for me was Running On Empty.  That song is such a classic.  But I've heard it many, many times, so it doesn't qualify for the GP.  I also am pretty sure I have heard the Stills/Young Band tune, so it's out.  I narrowed it down to two possibilities.   The Laura Nyro song was quite beautiful, and I really thought it was gonna take the award.  But then came Ten Years After.  That song Gonna Run is really cool.  Very atmospheric for me.  And great guitar.

That's it, the Golden Pell goes to Ten Years After.
