ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL3-FAVES AND GUILTIES PT.1

This is the first chance I am getting to congratulate the U.S. Women's Soccer Team for their winning the World Cup.
A wonderful accomplishment, I couldn't be prouder of them!
Then it's Volume 3 (seems like I've done more), where I'll play some Favorites and Guilty Pleasures of mine- my little contribution to songs you've heard or should have heard.
Unusual for me, I knew before I sat down what the first four songs I'd play would be, and I'll give verbal clues to them.
Also included, a very early Fleetwood Mac single, both sides- and they couldn't be more different.
People seem to like these shows.
I'd be a fool if I didn't hope that continues, lol!

RJ,
In this case it doesn't bother me, skipping Lauper.
You Didn't Have To Be So Nice- my man John Sebastian with the Lovin' Spoonful- and in stereo!
Not sure if you mean me or the music, but listening with the Bose headphones may be the way to go all the time, lol!
Great guess on Fever Tree, a little easier with the Kinks.
A couple of people told me they had never heard Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well Part 2, only heard Part One which does really rock.
I don't know what made me play Down At  Papa Joe's, but I've always liked it and haven't heard it myself in years.
A surprise all around, the Golden Pell to Fever Tree!
Looking back at what I played, and I was happy with them, an excellent choice.
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Jon,
Yeah alright I'll give you 4-nil, but that silly, dull, non-scoring game is REAL football?
Where the hell are you from, lol?
I just suddenly felt like giving verbal clues to intro those songs, and I did it backwards so I could hit the Lovin' Spoonful first.
If you were smart, you wouldn't call that pansy-diving, please don't touch anything with your hands, run around getting nowhere game REAL football, LOL!
The best part of the girl's game was that they scored 5 in one game as opposed to 5 in 5 years!
I had a few copies of Oh Well, I noticed all in mono, so I checked around and apparently can't be had in stereo unless there is one in the vaults.
I liked them better before Buckingham/Nicks, but didn't dislike them after- there's some good stuff.
I haven't played Cyndi Lauper often, never that song, I was waiting for another use for it.
I haven't thought of Captain Lou Albano until you mentioned him now, LOL!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

I know you won't like this, because you believe in a complete listening experience, but I had to skip Lauper.  I really, really don't like that song.

I don't think for a minute that you'll "give the people what they want".

You Didn't Have To Be So Nice.  I've heard this one before, but I don't know who the artist is.

By the way, I started this at work yesterday, but everything went to (expletive) and I didn't get past song two.  So I'm listening on Tuesday night at home (with the Bose head phones) while the wife watches Gypsy Sisters.  I don't get to do this and type as I listen very often.  Anyway, you are sounding mighty good in hi-fi Mike.

I'm liking this next song.  I feel like I should recognize this artist even though I've never heard the song.  But I can't place who it is.  This isn't the Guess Who is it?  Fever Tree?

I have no idea who is "giving the people what they want".  But it sounds like they are having fun doing it. Oh, the Kinks.

Fleetwood Mac.  Oh Well, Parts 1 and 2.  This sounds familiar.  I do believe I have heard it.  Oh yeah, definitely have heard it.  It sounds so different from the Buckingham/Nicks version of the band.  But this part one really rocks.  And Part 2 really slows down and chills out, and I dig that too.

Fried Chicken...yes.  Collard Greens...no.  I may be from the South but I don't like that crap.  Papa Joe's is a pretty good song though.

Now that it's over, I'm giving the Golden Pell to Fever Tree.  I think that's what you said.  Probably would have went with Oh Well, but I've heard Part One, so we'll go with that other one.  Really good show bro.

They were up 4 - nil. C'mon, get in the spirit of REAL football!

I knew you would play that Kinks song with that clue. But you didn't play it in the same order as the clues so you had me guessing. The other clues were familiar but I couldn't immediately guess what song they were. Then I figured it out. As the songs were playing. I'm smart.

You know, I never paid attention if "Oh Well" was in stereo or not. Never really noticed, until now. The song is so f****** awesome that it doesn't make a difference if it's in stereo or not.

Off topic just a little bit, but I wish there was a Fleetwood Mac comp of the pre-Buckingham/Nicks years. I have a bunch of the albums, but sometimes it's nice to grab a comp to listen to. I believe there is a Peter Green-era comp or two, but between him and B/N, there's nothing. Kinda sad since there's some GREAT songs on those albums.

And to start off with Cyndi Lauper was pretty cool. Whenever I hear that song, I think of Captain Lou Albano.

Nice show!
