Classic Rock Bottom

Well we have discovered there WAS an International Whistlers Convention, but no longer!
So maybe my picking this year for the Series is the Perfect Time, Filling A Gap.
And speaking of Perfect, I'll begin this Episode with perhaps the Quintessential Whistling Song of the 70's.
No resting there, I'll move forward into the 80's.
Something must have been wrong with me, I will play 3 Number One Songs- this from a guy who pays no attention to Hits, lol!
The Series wraps up next week.
It ain't over till it's over!

RJ,
Figured you'd like the Billy Joel, had you in mind.
Oh man, I am into Harry Chapin and he is a staple- but like the Moody Blues, one I don't play enough of.
"Centerfold.  Totally forgot that it has whistling in it"- ah, that element of surprise I love so much!
You almost got Peter Gabriel thinking Genesis.
Hey leave me alone about Walking On Sunshine, it's a great song, lol!
I only played The Bangles because of the Whistling- couldn't very well leave it out.
And while Susanna Hoffs is quite good looking, weren't any of the others?
I don't remember now.
Think I told Jon below how I happened to choose Whistling Away The Dark.
So the Golden Pell to the song by Peter Gabriel.
A good choice, but I am surprised that you hadn't heard it before.
Any number in here could have been picked, but as I stated, I went nuts and played the HITS, LOL!
Thanks for the listen and writing, Happy Mothers Day to all,
Mike

That lead song is great.  The whistling is terrific, but really, the whole song is.  One of my favorite Billy Joel tracks.

Can't say as much about the second choice.  Wasn't terrible, but not great either.  Harry Chapin I think you said.  He's a staple for you.  Centerfold.  Totally forgot that it has whistling in it.  I like it, but my wife makes me change the channel every time it comes on.  She can't stand it.

Don't know who that next song is, but I kind of like it.  Wait, maybe that's Genesis with Peter Gabriel fronting...Oh, PG solo.

Oh my, you may have picked a song that is as bad as Walking On Sunshine.  Susanna Hoffs is quite good looking, but I am not a fan of this song in the least.

Don't Worry, Be Happy.  A very popular song.  Not that great to me, but I can at least stomach it.

Whistling Away The Dark was pretty good.  I thought for a bit that I might be hearing something with The Beach Boys in it, but it was Henry Mancini.

I'll give the Golden Pell to the song by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.  That was nice.

Jon,
Wasted braces, lol!
They weren't there?
Even I am surprised, lol!
Frankly I thought Bobby McPherrin would be one of them.
And that's the same way I feel about that song, been a long enough time.
I've never seen that movie either, and some behind the scenes stuff, I picked the Henry Mancini song mainly because I knew I didn't have much time left and it was short compared to the others.
Gotta think on the fly sometimes, but I was happy with the contrast with all the other things I played.
Sorry if I messed up your weekend.
Hey maybe I WON'T play your dreaded songs...but I doubt it...one of them at least...brace yourself!
Thanks for the listen and writing, you want to watch S.O.B. look in the mirror...drum slam, LOL.

This was not the show I was looking for.

I expected to hear those two songs and I braced myself, but they weren't here! I braced myself for nothing!

Now I have to wait a few more days for that dread to become a reality? That doesn't seem fair. I wanted to get it done with today, now it's going to ruin my weekend, that anticipation. That ain't right.

I like all of these songs, the McFerrin song got old back then but I haven't heard it for awhile so it's ok now. Even though that Bangles song was played a lot, never really got tired of it, probably because they're not too shabby looking. Or maybe they're actually talented.

Anyway, much better show that I expected. I liked to last song, it came out of nowhere which made it fun. And, no, I haven't seen that movie even though I like Julie Andrews. I also like some Blake Edwards' movies ("S.O.B." anyone?) but still haven't watched it. Maybe it'll be on TCM or something.

Now I want to watch "S.O.B.".

Great show!
