Classic Rock Bottom

Well, I was expecting you, just open the door and come on in Friend!
That will make more sense after you've heard the opening to the annual Thanksgiving show.
I will set the table, the Thanksgiving table, with a few songs of Peacefulness.
Not always the case at Holiday get-togethers, lol!
And again I remind you that Thanksgiving is the most heavily traveled time in the U.S.
43 million travelers estimated this year, and they are all going HOME!
Over the years that has been the Theme within a Theme for this show- as we have gone Home by Planes, Trains, Automobiles...even Boats.
How about Rollin' Home?
That's a new one.
And like last year, a song for those, who for one reason or another, can't go Home.
It's a privilege I have always enjoyed, doing these Thanksgiving shows with and for you- bringing you some of the best Music I can think of for the occasion.
That Turkey Day is growing ever nearer!

RJ,
As for the 0-2 and not knowing those songs, well that's my job to introduce you and others to fine songs that have fallen through the cracks.
I played that Judy Collins tune in combination with Paul McCartney last year, but just Judy this time because it is such a perfect song for Thanksgiving.
That Kenny Rankin song was absent from my life for many years- I mean, it came out in 1967.
And then I heard his remake from 1972 which didn't sound right.
So that set me to searching for the older one, and I am so glad I did!
The Eagles are pretty much a safe bet.
If I lisped, I would say Dolly would suffocate you for lack of breaths...because of her pair of breaths, lol!
I am thankful for the same things as you are, and maybe that is a factor in our becoming such good internet friends, or just palin friends!
We got values buddy!
No kissing butt, it makes me blush, lol!
If I am batting well above .500, I do know what that baseball analogy means- I am a Hall Of Famer with a better lifetime average than that homicidal sweetheart Ty Cobb, lol!
I sure hope you get own music/media room, playing the music over some decent speakers because I try for high quality sound on my show, so it will come through those speakers very nicely.
Everything in pairs...that's Dolly Parton Syndrome, lol!
The Golden Pell to Judy Collins?
Yes, I'll go along with that choice.
I am thankful to be at Classic Rock Bottom, and for you always letting me know how well I am doing in my song picks, and how smartly or smoothly they flow into each other.
I truly appreciate it and look forward to it,
Mike

Hey, I forgot to mention two things.

I'm now seeing everything in pairs.

And, Golden Pell to Judy Collins.

Mike,

I'm 0-2 as well, of course, for the same reason as Scott.  The Judy Collins tune is perfect for this show.  And it's very good.  Great melody.

Nothin' wrong with that Kenny Rankin song.  And the Eagles, I rarely hear a song by them that I don't like, and this isn't one of those.  In other, less confusing words, I like that song.  Always have.

Hey, Dolly has a great voice, along with some nice...well, that's another story.  If I ever die of suffocation, I hope...well, that's another story as well.

What am I thankful for?  My family, friends and country.  Also, for Mike Pell.  No, I'm not kissing butt, I am thankful for the music you provide.  I can't say I've liked every song you've ever played, but I'm willing to say that you are well above .500, if you know what that baseball analogy means.   One day I will have my own music/media room, and then I'll be able to play this stuff like a true radio show, over some decent speakers.  Hopefully, you'll still be posting your shows then.

Scott,

Yeah man, I did think you didn't like them...hahahahaha!

Definitely no more baseball analogies.

You had me thinking I swung and missed twice, lol!

Hey, RJ is still here.

Excuse me, are you the official spokesperson for RJ?
Oh wait...you ARE RJ, LOL!
Ah damn, that sucks, cracking down at work.
If they start looking over your shoulder or breathing in your ear, elbow them directly in the nose!
SHT, AOTW, NMC...I need my codebook, lol!
I thought you listened to the first Autumn show and dropped out.
Not enough cowbell, lol!
No problem, Happy Thanksgiving bro,
Mike

Mike...  I should have been clearer, I didnt mean 0 for 2 as in I didnt like them, I meant that I didnt know them.  No more Baseball analogies from me since they are not my thing!  hahahaha...

Hey, RJ is still here.  But my work situation has changed a bit and I can't listen to stuff like I used to.  I'm having to be more careful there.  That doesn't leave me much time 'cause now I have to listen at home.  But fear not, I will get to 'em.

I'm 2 shows behind here and I'm behind on the last SHT.   Plus I gotta post an AOTW in a few days and a NMC next week.  But I'll get it done.

Anyway, don't think I'm not paying attention, I'm just slow right now.

Scott,
You are welcome.
Too bad you didn't like those first two, I love them.
I hate to repeat a song I have already played even if it was 10 years ago, so maybe I am getting more obscure in my selections.
Plus there are tunes I know like the back of my hand that I forget maybe others don't know at all.
Now to me, Judy Collins does just a beautiful opening song that is perfect for friends coming over for Thanksgiving.
The Kenny Rankin song first appealed to me because he talks about getting away to a peaceful place, either physically or mentally- without those people at work looking over your shoulder and breathing in your ear.
I always hated that, and somebody looking over my shoulder or breathing in my ear will do that only once, as my elbow will come crashing directly into their nose.
I know, I know...last day on the job...but entirely worth it, lol!
And the people I work with thankfully know better than to pull that with me.
Plus as I grew older, I noticed his lyrics, "I had a son while on the run" and "I hope someday, maybe he'll say, I'm a pretty nice guy".
I was kind of wild, so there came a time I could relate to the adult nature of those lyrics- without having fathered a son or daughter "while on the run", lol!
Plus Kenny was born and grew up here in NYC, so he's a campanero...we would both understand each other.
In fact, he comes from the same neighborhood as George Carlin, they called it White Harlem- and if you ever hear Kenny & George talking, they sound identical, it could be the same person.
The moment I thought of the Rankin song, the Eagles came right away.
As they were playing, I wondered if I might have a 3rd song I could use or wrap that Peacefulness part up, and Dolly came to mind because I always remembered "peaceful as a baby's sigh", with the added bonus of it being about Home!
And Home was the next subject to be tackled.
So there is some insight into the process of the making of the show.
When I was talking about Dolly being such a great songwriter, I had to resist saying she was much more than just a big bust, lol!
Although she is so good, that has worn off, I just enjoy her music.
I don't know, RJ hasn't said anything on the last two things I put up- maybe they are too laid back for that crazed Rocker, lol!
The Moody Blues Do seem to work in any context, and I have been using them in all sorts of topics for many years, even more so when I didn't have the show!
Hey, there's another half...then wish me a a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving, lol!
But if this it, Happy Thanksgiving to you pal,
Mike

Ah Thanks for the invite Mike!

0 for 2 on the openers, but then a home run!  That Eagles tune is the first thing that came to my mind when I read the shows description.

Im thinking when RJ listens to the Dolly tune he may get a Peaceful feeling for different reasons!  2 reasons to be more precise...  hahahaha...

Love the Moody Blues track as well they just seem to work in any context.  Thanks for the great kick off to the Holidays Mike!

Hope your have a safe a wonderful Thanksgiving!
