Classic Rock Bottom

ALRIGHT!!! It's snowing here again, and I LOVE it!
And in my usual childish way I had to get out there in it, just came in and I have to report it is not the best snow for throwing snowballs, kinda flaky but if you stick with it you can get a decent one to throw.
Well...ahem...on to the show.

This is a tradition I have been doing for years, but I skipped it last year- thought it might be getting played out.
Now I felt like bringing it back.
It's a celebration of the lives of those we lost in the previous year- in this case 2010.
Mostly, it's an Irish Wake!
Many of these people have undoubtedly touched you in some way, shape or form, and made your life a bit happier and more pleasant.
For the musical folks who passed on, they are deserving of one more play, at least.
And we will deal with some other cultural figures as well, from TV, movies, etc.
You are welcome to anticipate or second-guess my own musical choices!
In this opening episode, those selected are, and this is as close to a playlist as you will ever see from me, lol:
Tony Clarke
Kate McGarrigle
Alex Chilton
Johnny Maestro.

For these folks we pay tribute to and memorialize, they can’t give any more than they have.

Here's the living link to some people who made me smile, at WLSO.FM:

I'm guessing something from Elf or Ronnie And The Redcaps (which always makes me think Ronnie and the D-Cups)...

Can I have a guess about your choice for RJD? "Love is all" by Roger Glover. Am I right???

RJ,
I don't get it, why would this be out of your realm?
In truth, I did this for about 10 years but I stopped doing it last year because the shows would go on and on for weeks, and it started to to get stale.
So I am trying to keep it short from now on, two weeks I hope, but probably three.
Glad you liked those words in the description- think I will keep the same words for each part.
I can't improve on them, lol!
Yeah, that is a great Carly Simon song, not so new though, it's on the Hotcakes album- but that woman could write songs!
And you had never heard it before, or Welcome Me Love by The Brooklyn Bridge with Johnny Maestro?
That is so cool, I get to introduce you to songs you like.
Oh almost everything reminds you of Seinfeld...yada, yada. yada...LOL!
I vaguely remember that episode though.
You are correct sir, Ronnie James Dio is forthcoming next, and you may be surprised at my choice for him.
Also, I will be taking the first of a couple of detours in our ride through 2010.
Thanks my friend, for listening and the comments and your openness to ALL music,
Mike

Mike,

Okay, your out of my realm with this show.  Not that it has anything to do with the quality of the show.  The quality is fantastic as usual.

I really like this theme.  We lose so many folks every year that I can see this show going on and on for weeks.  I think it's great that you are saluting them, and I really like your words in your show description above:

"For these folks we pay tribute to and memorialize, they can’t give any more than they have."

I certainly couldn't have said it better.  Now, I like two of these songs a good bit, and I haven't heard either of them before today.  The Carly Simon song is really good.  And you are right, she is a fantastic songwriter even today.  I take it that's a fairly recent song.  The other one I really like is Welcome Me Love by The Brooklyn Bridge, featuring Johnny Maestro.  Very, very good song.  And his name, of course, reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine's boyfriend wants to be called "The Maestro".  Do you remember that one?

Great start to what I'm sure will be an outstanding series.  I assume you'll get to Ronnie James Dio fairly soon, I think he died in May.
