Dear Scott,
Nice going, you did pick .38 Special.
Now stop pointing it at me, lol!
I have to be honest, I never even thought of Cheech & Chong's Sister Mary Elephant.
That would have fit in beautifully.
See, sometimes people come up with GREAT suggestions!
I didn't have a shortage of songs though, but that would have changed things.
Thanks for listening & writing- see what you think of Pt.2 later,
Mike

Dear RJ,
Glad you liked it, Pt.2 will be here later.
Now don't be too hard on yourself, Seinfeld was a good guess.
It's only looking backwards where Welcome Back Kotter seems easy to get- don't be a Monday Morning Quarterback, lol!
And I will testify that you do in fact HAVE half a brain...and more, lol!
Yeah not much happened with that cast, particularly Gabe Kaplan- where the hell IS he?
I was really proud of the Jethro Tull, as I said on the show I hadn't heard it in ages.
I was really proud of the Jethro Tull, as I said on the show I hadn't heard it in ages.
And I can vividly remember finding it, I was looking through my vinyl albums, and there it was, the Benefit album.
But what I played was from the CD.
In A Big Country was their big hit here in the States, and I am happy to introduce you to The Teacher.
I make the occasional good call, lol!
Thanks as always for writing, listeners like you guys make the show worth doing,
Hey I got one! 38 Special!

I love the comedy routines sprinkled in, actually made me think of Sister Mary Elelphant from Cheech and Chong which may have worked well here too. Maybe in part 2?

What a great show. But I'm so disappointed in myself. Why did I guess Seinfeld? Only because you said stand-up that inspired a TV show. But if I had half a brain, I would have thought about the subject and certainly remembered a TV show named Welcome Back Kotter. I loved that show. I did not know that Kaplan's stand-up routine inspired it. The bit with Horshack/Horse shit was hilarious. And the "up your nose" bit for the show was "up your nose with a rubber hose". Great memories, and you're…

Great memories, and you're correct, John Travolta (Vinnie Barbarino) was the only cast member who every really did anything else.

I loved the .38 Special and Jethro Tull songs. Those were great picks.

The big surprise for me was the Big Country song. The only song I remember by that band was actually called "Big Country" or "In A Big Country", I'm not sure of the exact title. But "The Teacher" is a really good song that is totally new to me. Good call Mike. A little Seinfeld maybe?tag:classic-rock-bottom.ning.com,2010-09-24:6060463:Comment:66452010-09-24T08:30:41.000ZRJhog (Admin)https://classic-rock-bottom.ning.com/profile/JeffHogland
