Jon,

Self Portrait was one strange Bob Dylan album!

Maybe not THE strangest but up there, and a double album when it came out.

And he opens the whole thing with that haunting song he doesn't even sing on!

Those were ONLY females Jon me lad, LOL!
Mike

That Fogleberg tune is a beauty, and the Flying Burrito Bros. version of Wild Horses is actually more Country than the Stones- might be a little longer too.

But it came first!

That song by the Byrds, called Chestnut Mare, is a metaphor for anything you are searching for, and sometimes when you find it, it is very very hard to hold onto.

It could be sex...and keeping that partner.

But it is so open to interpretation maybe no two people hear the same thing.

One of the reasons I've always loved it.

I was listening to the playback before I officially posted the episode, and that was the one I picked you would like most.

The meeting of the minds, lol!
Speaking of which...Wildfire...mmmmm!!!

Thanks for the listen and always interesting comments, and I think you'll like Part Two,

Oh no, you're tracking my staples, lol!

The Beatles, Fogelberg, Moody Blues, Van, Stones, Tom Paxton, Byrds- you will definitely hear them!

Thanks for the listen and almost writing, lol,

A repost, so I'm reposting my orig. comment, with one added comment at the bottom:

I listened to this part at work today, but right after I finished, work went straight to hell. So I'm just now commenting from the best of my memory.

I thought the bugle at the beginning was perfect. And that's the most I've ever heard of that. I did like the Fogleberg tune and the Flying Burrito Bros. version of Wild Horses. I almost picked it for the Golden Pell, but alas,…

the song by The Byrds. Don't remember the title, but I really loved the acoustic guitar work in it. And the lyrics. Was that song a metaphor for something else, you know......sex?

The line "I'm going to catch that horse if I can, and when I do I'm gonna give her my brand". I'm tellin' you, go back and listen to it. It was full of those things.

I'm expecting to hear Wildfire in the next show. That's always the first song I think of that has to do with horses.

One thing I will add is that you played one staple: The Beatles. Fogelberg and The Byrds are close to being named staples, but not yet. I'll need to hear them a few more times.
Hahahahahahahahaha...NO!!!
