We are Americans...period!

My thoughts, not sure why, are not so much that he dodged the draft, but the government thought he could do more good for the war effort by continuing to make patriotic movies.

And it would be demoralizing if he were to be shot and killed in the war.

I haven't looked it up, I swear, but he might have had something wrong with the physical too.

That Bill Parsons song is so good, it's too bad it's not him, lol!

Catch that goof on Elvis in there, complete with the draft at the end?

Best line: Got me a guitar, learned how to play in a day or two, lol!

And the Golden Pell to Merle Haggard for Fighting Side Of Me.

Surely that was the BEST song I played in there...had to look for that one!

America by Yes really brought back memories.

Thanks for listening and writing, and Happy 10th Of July, lol,

I dig this one Mike. Quite a country flavor until that last song.

John Wayne released and album? Was it all talk? Now, I could be wrong, and I'm certainly not trying to stir up "you know what", but it seems like I read somewhere that he dodged the draft. Am I thinking of the wrong person? Just curious.

I thought both the Alan Jackson song and the Johnny Cash song were quite good. But the two that stole the show were Bill Parsons, whom I was originally gonna award the Golden Pell to, but then you played Merle Haggard. Now, it's possible that I've heard The Fighting Side Of Me before, but I'm still giving it the Golden Pell. What a great song.

Even the song by Yes was good (I'm not a big Yes fan like Jon is).

Nice show.
Jon,

Jon,

You know, you nailed- it undoubtedly IS all of those reasons that people are stupid and lazy.

You guys are lucky to have me for educational purposes, lol!

Oh no, not a John Wayne fan either.

Jesus, you don't like anybody except for the weird people you have over to your garage, lol!

It's Bobby Bare, you should know him just for being a songwriter besides a singer.

Poor Bill Parsons, his place in music history is based on a mislabeled record!

I like the Alan Jackson song, I can relate to it- and it segued wonderfully after the previous song.

Just listened to the Merle one, and I don't hear it in the bass line...once again, I think it's just YOU!

Yeah Johnny, can't not play Johnny Cash when I get the chance.

Your grandfather was a Rough Rider?
Very cool!

And Jon, we had a weird meeting of the minds when I played the Yes version of America, LOL!

You were thinking about the Yes version but I never knew it.

And that is a great question- is this is the only cover song that Yes ever did?

Offhand, I can't think of another.

Wish I could say that on the show, but alas too late.

So my FRIEND, you'd sell me out for the right amount of cash, LOL?

Why I oughtta...!
Thanks for the listen, and relatively restrained writing for you,

I don't know why the people today don't know about history, but think maybe they're stupid a lazy. Probably sit around playing videogames, listening to music and watching movies all day long instead of getting much needed schooling.

Now...I'm not a John Wayne fan at all. But, that was an interesting bit he did there. At least he didn't sing Shatner-style.

Bobby Billy Parsons Bear didn't sound like something from the 50's. Didn't know they had music way back then.

Alan…

Alan Jackson? No. All I can say about that. Give me a headache with that twanginess.

Did Merle steal the bass line from "The Boots Are Made For Walking"? He does say the work "walking" too. Wonder if he an Nancy were, you know, TOGETHER. Decent song though.

Hey. Johnny! I recognize that voice. It's Johnny! And a fiddle! Fiddle-de-do! Hey, my great grandpappa was a Rough Rider. Did you know that?

Hey, you played the Yes version???? I could swear I had put that on my wonderful comments for the first show, but must have spaced it off when I was typing. I was really thinking about the Yes version when there was another version from someone else and I was going to say, "Hey, Yes did a version of this song too", but I was too caught up in the moment and forgot. Thinking about it now really deep and hard (tee hee) I wonder if this is the only cover song that Yes ever did?

Nice set of shows Mike. Hopefully you don't get audited but if someone offers me the right amount of cash, I'll be sure to point them in your direction?
