Classic Rock Bottom

WHAT CLASSIC ROCK (OR JUST PLAIN ROCK) ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

So what are you listening to right now?  Any genre is cool.

For me:

" I remember Prince gave me a cassette of Purple Rain.
It was like 20 minutes long and he asked me to write something on it.
I tried for a month and then he came to L.A.
I went to see him and said, "I can't do it. It's too perfect.
It's like 'Stairway to Heaven.'"
He said OK and then I go, "I can keep the cassette, right?"
He said, "Of course and thank you for trying."

                                                                      ~ Stevie Nicks

" I remember the first time I received a cassette tape of a band called The Clash.
I became an instant fan of the Clash,
and then bought their albums after that,
and went to their concerts,
and gave them my money...
but I first got it for free. "

And I don't know what am I saying here?

" With modern parts atop old ones,
the brain is like an iPod built around an eight-track cassette player. "

                                                                                                          ~ Sharon Begley

“ I listen to everything that comes in.
I'm not really worried about demo sound quality.
I can hear through that sort of thing.
If a band can play, then they can play. ”
                                                             — Greg Ginn

“ I think the true test of a pop song, for me, is you take your demo,
you pop it in your car and you drive down Sunset Blvd. to Santa Monica,
and that's the Hollywood car test. ”
                                                       — Ryan Tedder

“ Had dreams of fancy cars and limos,
And all I wanted was somebody to listen to my demo. ”
                                                                                    — Erick Sermon

“ When some early Tom Waits demos were released against his wishes in the early 1990s,
he is supposed to have said:
'Demo tapes are like baby pictures, everybody's got them, you just don't want them passed around. ”
                                                                                                                                                — Kirk Lake

“ If you are recording, you are recording.
I don't believe there is such a thing as a demo or a temporary vocal. ”
                                                                                                          — Tom Waits

Demo:
presentation of a specific set of capabilities needed to solve the customer's critical business issue. ”
                                                                                                                                            — Peter Cohan

" Martin, Dave, and I get together and rough out a few songs and put them on cassettes for some reference...
With the actual music, I'm not interested in objectivity, quite the opposite.
I want a solely and totally subjective experience...
A lot of pop music is about stealing pocket money from children. "
                                                                                                     ~ Ian Anderson

“ Quite often when I record a song, writing it and making a demo is the big thing and, after that, I think, how do I actually translate this into real life?
A lot of the time I think I can't be bothered. ”
                                                                     — Mick Jagger

“ Fun is when you're writing a song and you're trying a rough shot at a demo and ... it works.
That's when it's fun.
After that, it's work. ”
                                   — Tom Scholz

“ Some people remaster their records six, seven times, remix it three, four times, spend a million hours, then they always go back and hear a demo of it and they'll say:
'Aw, that sounds so much better than the final mix.' ”
                                                                                 — Jack White

“ I'm the most indecisive person in the world.
I'll do three versions of a song, then think, "Is the demo better? "
                                                                                                   — Marc Almond

“ Opinions are like demo tapes.
I don’t want to hear yours. ”
                                            — Stephen Colbert

CASSETTES – DEMO/PROMO-Tapes

BC vs MC vs SRC
BC (Blank Cassette): is dubbed on home stereos after which their tabs are removed to prevent an overwrite. They could be Type I (low-noise/ferric or 'normal' cassettes), Type II (high bias/chrome tapes), Type III tape (combines good low-frequency MOL with good treble performance), and Type IV cassettes (or simply 'metals' use a wet coating or metal evaporated processes, which makes them expensive, and in need of high quality, properly aligned decks to reveal their full potential).

MC (Musicassette): is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback which already contains content commercially produced and professionally duplicated with high fidelity settings from the Original Master Tapes.

SRC (Self-Released Cassette): Demo/Promo cassettes with informative J-Cards of unique shape, material, and complexity of info with generic cartridges or vice versa.

Note: All BC/SRC are authentic items obtained directly from the Artists (occasionally with extra goodies).
