Classic Rock Bottom

Okay, so what movies from the year 2011 have you seen? Want to see?

Well, so far that I can remember I've seen:

Get Low starring Robert Duvall about a hermit in the 1930's who goes about having a funeral party BEFORE his death. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but despite my fandom for Duvall, I was disappointed in this movie.

Last night I went to theater and saw the movie Hanna. Saoirse Ronan was good in the title role but otherwise this movie was a let down as well. Cate Blanchett's southern accent was distracting, the quick cut camera editing was annoying and when the reason why everyone wanted Hanna was revealed, all I could think was that they kind of ripped off the comic book back story of Captain America a bit.

Other movies I'm looking forward to seeing are: Green Lantern, Thor, Conan The Barbarian, Fast Five and Beautiful Boy. The last one is about parents who hear about a shooting on a campus where there son goes to school, only to find out it was their son who did the shootings. I saw the trailer on On Demand and it looked intense.

I think, its only worth watching because of the "side-story" about his older brother. "Donna" is pretty ugly in that movie. I would never write a song to her. Maybe I would write a song to his sister in law, OR mother.

I liked that movie a lot.

Well, since we don't go to movie theaters except for MAYBE once a year, I went Black Friday crazy the last couple weeks and picked up this stack on blu-ray:

2011 movies

Captain America

Thor

Green Lantern

X Men: First Class

Horrible Bosses

Scream 4

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

and for oldies to replace DVD's:

Die Hard

Die Hard 2

Die Hard 3

Jurassic Park Trilogy

Lord Of The Rings Extended Trilogy

Evil Dead 2

James Bond Set 1 (3 movies, had the original set for this and the one below but the bd's were not in separate cases)

James Bond Set 2

Metropolis (80's version)

Evil Dead 2 is awesome!!

It's beyond awesome.

Greatest abandoned-cabin movie ever.

I saw my first 2012 movie this past weekend.  The Grey with Liam Neeson.  It was pretty cool, a little above average.  The basic synopsis is that his woman left him (they don't say how for a while) and he is contemplating suicide.  He's working in Alaska, decides not to kill himself, then takes a flight that crashes, setting up the movie as an extreme survival tale.

I didn't know if I wanted to see the movie so I read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia. And I'm glad I didn't blow ten bucks on the film.

Saw Act Of Valor this past weekend.  Great movie!  Very patriotic.  Highly recommended.

I watched the action revenge thriller Colombiana last night. Decent enough for a one time viewing. Zoe Saldana handled the action scenes quite nicely. I don't think it is one that I'd watch multiple times though.

I saw The Avengers today.

The greatest superhero movie of all time!

I agree!!!!

Watched a movie last night called "Triangle".

In a nutshell, it's about a group of folks that go on a sailing trip, a strange storm comes along and causes them to capsize and then they're picked up by an ocean liner. From there, things get even stranger.

It's from 2010, starring Melissa George.

If you haven't seen this movie, check it out. It's on one of the Showtime channels so you might be able to On Demand it. If not, rent it.

Then, when you're done watching it (and you might want to watch it twice), tell us (me?) what you think it's all about.....
