Song Of The Week: Heaven Nine Eleven

This week we continue with the ongoing series looking at classic artists and their albums released since 2000.  Tesla regrouped to release Into The Now in 2004.  Two things you can count on Tesla to bring to the table are superior guitar work and the unique sound of Jeff Keith's vocals.  This album has both of those things.  Here are a few odds and ends:

  • Into The Now peaked at no. 31 on the Billboard Charts (Wikipedia).
  • This was Tesla's first release since Bust A Nut in 1994.
  • Since this release, Tesla has released 4 covers albums and one of original material (Forever More in 2008).
  • Into The Now does have all five original members present.
  • I'm pretty sure that the song Heaven Nine Eleven is about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Overall, I consider this a very good album.  Especially for a band that's been around since the mid 80's.  The only place it really bogs down a bit for me is from track 8 to track 10.  It's not like those are terrible songs, I just seem to lose focus right about there.  But they get it rectified on the last two tracks, with the closer being a fantastic song.

1. Into The Now

2. Look @Me

3. What A Shame

4. Heaven Nine Eleven

5. Words Can't Explain

6. Caught In A Dream

7. Miles Away

8. Mighty Mouse

9. Got No Glory

10. Come To Me

11. Recognize

12. Only You

Wait a sec. I think I've got it.

Try this:  Click on "dropbox".  When the pop up comes up, x out of it.  Then you should have and upload option directly from your computer.  That's where I get to, but once it starts uploading, it gets stuck uploading the first song and never finishes.

Are you using IE, Firefox or Chrome?

It stopped for me when I was uploading the first song as well. I even tried another song, but same result. Last week, I had the same problem, but only with one song from The Von Hertzen Brothers-album, and I chose another track, and with that, I could. This time it looks a bit like it's all of the tracks? Even still, it's a bit annoying, that "you can't chose the songs yourself" kind of'ish.

I am using SAFARI.

ok, this isn't working for me either, what I thought was working before isn't...  Spoke too soon, so sorry.

Whats our option?  When I click on Dropbox (which I have a free account to)  it tries to open up http://www.dropbox.com/upload/dropbox-auth.html which results in a 404 (page not found) error for me and then I get a little pink notice saying its not available to everyone yet...  So now what?

I have no idea if Dropbox has anything to do with the issues. I noticed it last night when I tried loading up Rose Tattoo, went ahead and signed up (I guess) with Dropbox and I think that's where I got some sort of message about Dropbox making changes to my computer or something.

Then I went back to the loading page on Podsnack, clicked on the Dropbox thing, a window popped up for a second and then I loaded the stuff up.

This morning I noticed I had an email from Dropbox saying that I needed to complete my Dropbox setup by installing it on my computer. I haven't done that so have no idea if Dropbox is messing things up or not.

Caught in a Dream is a missed song. Oh yeah, I need to remember this CD. Good pick.

If you can imagine this, The whole world sharing one big kiss

These are thoughts all through my brain,
that I daydream everyday that I'm alive and well
Right now I'm alive, I'm feeling, [well]
it's my live to live my way so I'll keep daydreamin' away
And who knows maybe someday it will all come true, and I will get my way
And we will live as one

CHOURS
[I'm caught up in a dream]
I'm gonna wish for it all
No one's gonna tell me how
No way this is my dream now
[I'm caught up in what seems], simply impossiable
I aint gonna change a thing
No way, it's is my dream

And what can not will be done
for every living thing under the sun
Forget color, forget race, and just be one big happy face,
among this sea of people, live among Gods creatures
Sharing love, that was sent down from above
here to share with one another
Father, brother, sister, mother, everybody sharing love
Sharing love..

(Chours)

This is my dream....
I close my eyes, and everything will be alright
Here in my fantacy, livin' in harmony, will make my dream come alive
Whoa yeah...

(Chours)
(Chours)

Now if can imagine this, the whole world sharing one big kiss
Take away the and hurt,
Make like heaven here on earth
Without reason to die and give it ever-lasting life to all

Had this once upon a time.  And its gone...  **poof**  disappeared!  Loved it then and love it now.  Nice post!!  My Tesla collection is sorely lacking!  I need to address this ASAP.

I enjoyed their latest album as much as this one.  And I agree with Danno, the two covers albums are probably the best cover albums as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks!   I own their debut on vinyl and lost track of them when they released Bust a Nut.

BAN is the one album I don't really care for, but I like everything else.  Good thing is, you're only looking at about 4-5 albums and you'd have the complete collection.

I think this release stands up to all the other great Tesla albums (including Mechanical Resonance). Still in medium rotation for me, even after years of heavy rotation.

For me, "Bust A Nut" was also my least favorite Tesla...for quite a few years. But, I like it far more now than I did "way back when". In fact, "Bust A Nut" has my all-time favorite Tesla track, "Mama's Fool". Just a killer, killer tune. One of my all-time favorites in the history of rock....it's a top 10, maybe even top 5 track for me.

Bust A Nut is probably my favorite Tesla album, mostly due to Mama's Fool. You're right, a killer tune. Killer!
