Classic Rock Bottom

Cheap Trick's self-titled debut album was released in February of 1977.  The splash it made was so small that it wasn't even a splash.  I didn't even realize a record could check in at number 207. Technically, the Billboard chart only goes to number 200, but whatever.  What I'm trying to say is that it flopped.  But that's okay.  Oh Candy was the lone single, and it failed to chart as well.  It was probably a long shot to begin with, seeing has how the subject matter ranged from pedophiles to serial killers to suicide.  I don't think it's the most accessible Cheap Trick album for the masses, but I do like it.  I prefer Side A to Side 1 (yes, instead of sides A and B).  Elo Kiddies is sort of anthemic and although I like it, it won't be making my Ultimate Cheap Trick Playlist (that's sure to upset some of the fanatics, but hey, I'm my own man). Oh, I almost forgot, I've never considered Rick Nielsen the greatest guitarist, but his rhythm playing (and lead) on Hot Love is killer.
