Classic Rock Bottom

April  of 1979 brought the release of Evolution.  It was the second Steve Perry fronted album, and the golden days of Journey's music had arrived.  Evolution, just like Infinity before it, was certified Triple Platinum by the RIAA.  It became the band's first Top 20 album, topping out at number 20. Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' was a Top 20 hit (number 16).  The band was soaring.  Oh yeah, Ansley Dunbar was out on drums, Steve Smith was in.

This is a good album.  I used to think it was the best of the Infinity/Evolution/Departure group, but now I'm not so sure.  My favorite tracks here are Majestic, Too Late (an all-time band favorite for me), Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', When You're Alone (It Ain't Easy), Just The Same Way, Do You Recall and Lady Luck.  What about you?

Oh, by the way.  I'm still ranking the albums, but here's a twist.  My ultimate list will only be a Top 10.  Anything below the top 10 will fall off of the rankings at that point.

1. Infinity

2. Evolution

3. Next

4. Journey

5. Look Into The Future
