Classic Rock Bottom

A PERSONAL DAY- ODDS & ENDS VOL.2 PT.1

I am taking part of my vacation time this week, so this comes to you from SOMEWHERE, U.S.A.
A time for fun, and this show will reflect that and be fun- a relaxed, chilled out edition of Rockollections with a lot of music and little of me.
There are hundreds of ideas in my head for shows, and some ideas have been floating around in there for years...hell, decades!
That's the case with this first half.
I am sure that the phrase Teddy Bear's Picnic has entered your life in some way, shape or form.
But did you know that there actually ARE Teddy Bear's Picnic celebrations across the country?
Around the world actually- there was a recent one in Ballymoney, Ireland.
So finally, after too long a time, I am taking the opportunity to make my contribution to the Picnic!
I hope you enjoy what was a bit of a challenge, but a labor of love, finding a varied, diverse set of music for the given topic.
And stay tuned for the second half coming soon, where I will be instructing you on doing the Mike Pell Shuffle, lol!
It's all music, it's all fun!

Get the kids for this one, and don't let the potato salad spoil in this heat- here's the link to WLSO.FM:

You go running at 6AM?

Man, I don't run anytime!

Gettysburg...yeah, just the biggest battle EVER in North America, lol!

Probably 120 degrees out there on the field!

It's only comfortable here outside at 6am, so that's when I go running.  Gettysburg?  Didn't something important happen there?

My age is beginning to show too- it's too freakin' HOT to do anything EVERYWHERE I go on this short vacation, LOL!

Thanks for the copy and paste, and your wish of enjoyment...was heading for Gettysburg, but no way out in that field in this weather!

I'll get heatstroke, lol!

You know my age is beginning to show.  I forgot to copy and paste, but I'm on it.  I also forgot to say enjoy your vacation!

RJ,
I first heard of the Teddy Bear Picnic about a dozen years ago- but the name was familiar, thought it was a kid's book or cartoon.
I got Elvis, lol!
But I was VERY proud of those other odd but excellent choices.
I never saw Smokey and the Bandit when I was sober!
Smokey The Bear is the greatest of them all.
Never heard Teddy Bear by Red Sovine, but it's hard to know them all.
I will click to Wiki, lol!
Hey man, no post at WLSO?
I am always proud of your writing, and you should be too.
All you have to do is copy & paste...like I do with my replies here, lol!
Thanks, enjoy your non-vacation.

Mike, I'm not on vacation, but I'll reply like I am (meaning it will be short and sweet).

I've never heard of a "Teddy Bear Picnic", but when you mention music and teddy bears together, I think of 3 things, one of which made this show.

1. Elvis Presley.  Yep, The King.  How could anyone not think of the song Teddy Bear?

2. This one is a bit of a stretch, but Smokey and the Bandit.  Such a great movie with the 2nd greatest Smokey Bear ever, Jackie Gleason.  Of course, the best Smokey Bear ever was this one:

3. And finally, do you remember the song Teddy Bear by Red Sovine?  It's an old country song which I haven't heard in years, but it's a spoken story.  If interested, click here for the Wikipedia article on the song.

Nice show bro.
