Oh, so you could pick up those stations.
Too bad though, I figured next time you pissed me off I could track you down, LOL!
I grew up in New Jersey.
Your descent eh, lol?
Jon, those stations you mentioned, do you live in New York?
When I was young, on Saturday nights I used to listen to Bing Band night on an FM station out of New Jersey I believe. I think it was WDHA? I have to look for a card I got from them for some promotion or something, but then they changed format and no more Big Band Music, they went to AOR and then my descent into hell began with them, WPLJ and WAPP.
Ok, I liked this., Start of with Glenn Miller? Aces in my book! Everything else I've heard, and I liked it just fine. For a show for the birds, this was darn good. Would be really cool if you did an ALL BIG BAND SHOW. Show these young whippersnappers what REAL music is all about.
The Bob Marley song...I was trying to figure out why you included it, because I always though the titles was "Every Little Thing Is Going To Be Alright" for some reason. Probably because I wasn't on the ganja when I was listening today and when I've ever listened to this song? But what does this have to do with birds anyway, outside of the title?
I've got a new feature for Rockollections: The Staples...You have some "staple" artists that you play on a regular basis, so I feel the need to check these off in each episode. For this show, I've got Van Morrison and the ever present Beatles.
And this will surprise you, but I'm giving the Golden Pell to Glen Miller. I've never heard about the Swallows, but that's a cool song. Made me wanna see an old movie.
Minnie Ripperton, at least Lovin' You, always makes me think of Vegas Vacation when Wayne Newton is singing that song and Mrs. Griswald hits that high note. Priceless.
Haven't heard Rockin' Robin or Grooving in a while. Like 'em both.
The only one that I didn't care for was Bob Marley. I'm just not a fan.
Nice show though. Gotta love those staples.
