Johnny did that?
Man, I didn't notice, gotta go back and listen.
Doing next week's show now.
Mike, I just listened to Smiling Bill McCall again. I didn't realize that Johnny rhymed the words "car" and "tomorrow". How cool was that?
Jon, I know what you mean with sometimes they're so bad they're good.
Plan 9 From Outer Space anyone, lol?
Sometimes I catch those TCM movies, I always check to see what they're playing and, yeah, some of those are REALLY bad, but sometimes they're so bad they're good.
Love the kick off with Steely Dan. Nice touch.
Sad to hear about Lou Reed, but I was never a fan. Mainly because other than Take A Walk On The Wildside, I've never heard his work (except for Lulu, which we won't mention, though I just did). But this song from The Velvet Underground wasn't half bad. I thought about awarding it the Golden Pell...
...but then you played The Michael Stanley Band. That was a cool little song. Midwest Midnight I think you said. So I was gonna give that song the Golden Pell...
...but then you played Smiling Bill McCall by Johnny Cash. Johnny's my boy, so he definitely gets the GP. You'd think since he was my boy, I'd have heard that song, but it's not true. A great story song from one of the greatest story tellers ever. So the 198th Golden Pell is awarded to Johnny Cash.
From the movie titled "FM". Makes sense, huh?
I was surprised that SNL had an in memoriam for Lou Reed this past weekend. Nice on their part. He was in a cool movie titled "Get Crazy" in he early 80's, haven't seen it in yeard but believe it has something to do with a rock promoter trying to throw a New Years Eve Bash or something along those lines.
Michael Stanley Band? Haven't heard them mentioned in years. Not a huge fan, but I think they were pretty big on the east coast.
I liked this show.
