What's The 4-1-1?

The third release from Soul Doctor finds the music soaked in a healthy dose of whiskey-tinged blues.

Genre

Hard Rock / Blues Rock / Melodic Rock

The Good

Vocalist Tommy Heart and guitarist Chris Lyne must really be walking in the shadow of the blues. Heart's vocals have that great deep whiskey soaked sound to them throughout the album. Lyne Touches all the right notes during the leads and solos. They even manage to work in the use of a horn section in two of the songs.

The song "Ten Seconds Of Love" has a hot solo and "She's Mine" features a deep groove that you can't help fall into. The best song on the album however, is the closing track "Cheap Down 'n' Nasty." It best reflects the blues rock aim of the CD. You can just picture the band playing in a smoky dimly lit bar during this song.

The Bad

There is a rather unnecessary voiceover used on the song "The Trigger (Goin' Downhill)" that grated on my nerves because otherwise the song was pretty good.

The Verdict

For A Fistful Of Dollars is quite simply a smoking hot rock and roll CD. My opinion is that its one of the best blues rock albums I've heard since the one Cinderella album I like: Heartbreak Station.

Did You Know?

Tommy Heart is probably best known as the frontman for the band Fair Warning. He and guitarist Chris Lyne formerly played together in a band called Heart Lyne. The band toured Germany with Dio on his Killing the Dragon concert trek.
