Classic Rock Bottom

The tour commences, only because I am now in it only for the money.

And now I really need the money........

It's been a pretty mellow winter here so I decided to work on some of our farm equipment. Sadly, after drinking way too many Zima's, I had a slight accident while working on the thrasher and now I have no eyelids.

It's very hard to be on stage and being unable to blink because the noxious PBR fumes are too overpowering. Now I can't blink back the tears so everyone thinks I'm crying because I'm happy. I'm only crying because I can't blink back the damn tears!

Luckily I found a doctor on Craig's List who supposedly specializes in eyelid attachment. However, the price is astronomical and there's only so much corn I can sell so I'm stuck with this tour until I make enough money to have the surgery.

This week's album is the 1983 release from Blackfoot titled "Siogo". Not the album cover and the absence of a animal. Wonder why since the previous three albums had a snake, a kitty and a birdy. Guess we'll never know.

I have this on vinyl, along with Strikes, Tomcattin', Marauder, Highway Song LIve, and Vertical Smiles.

This album, and Vertical Smiles are easily the weakest of what I have. I remember when I heard that Ken Hensley (ex Uriah Heep) had joined Blackfoot, that I thought it would be a great addition.

But I stopped thinking that after listening to this and Vertical. Keyboards and Blackfoot just don't mix! It's not horrible or anything...it just lacks the fire and passion of their earlier works. Oh, I also have the 1986 release...Ricky Medlocke and Blackfoot. That record was/is also a disappointment.

I do have their greatest hits on CD...and most of the material comes from their "hot streak"...79 through 82 I guess...mostly stuff from Strikes, Marauder, and Tomcattin'. And those 3 records were all very good to me.

But this is enjoyable to hear this again. Since I got it when it first came out...I probably have not heard this since, like, 1984, or something. So far, as I listen, it does seem better now than it did way back then. Like I've said before, I've "mellowed" out a good bit as I get older. But classic Blackfoot to me is the 3 albums mentioned just above.
