Classic Rock Bottom

So I was going to put this up yesterday (Sunday), but didn't since I was still coming down from the canoe trip from hell. But it's up now, the 1985 release from James Young Group, "Rasied By Wolves".

This year it was decided that we would try a new river for the annual fun in the water thing, and it started off ok. Then, after getting stuck numerous times because it was so shallow, it began to turn out to be not so ok.

And then the "Deliverance" moment happened: we were stuck on rocks and were getting out of the canoe to drag it over the rocks and we tipped over. The better half fell in and immediately began screaming, "My ankle! My ankle!". I soon followed, and watched the bagshe had packed slowly slide into the water.

She's still screaming and trying to stand up as I finally hit the water, my right leg landing first, hitting the rocks. I stood up and looked down at my leg and saw something white poking through the skin. Nice!

But, gentleman that I am, I helped my better half up, and turned over the canoe. Meanwhile, one of our paddles is floated merrily down the river.

We finally manage to get settled again, the ankle issue seems to be a mild tweak, I've got a broken leg, we're missing a paddle and the bag with towels, trail mix and a couple bottles of soda is soaking wet. Did I mention that my cell phone was also in that bag? No? Well, it shouldn't be an issue since it was in a zippered side pocket in a plastic baggie,so it was good to go.

Now we just wanted to get this trip over with, so I'm zooming down the river, avoiding (best I can) the drunks on inner tubes and any shallow spots.

I finally took a minute to check the severity of my broken leg, and was overjoyed to find it wasn't white bone sticking out of my leg, but a rock that got stuck. Tore it off, blood gushed and happiness was felt all around by all.

The paddle was recovered by someone in our party (surprisingly, it was picked up by one of the drunk inner tubers) an then we were REALLY able to take off and leave everyone behind.

When the wound stopped it's massive bleeding and we reached a quiet part of the river, the bag was opened and the towels, trail mix and soda was taken out. And then came the phone.....and, of course, the baggie wasn't completely closed so when she took it out of the bag, I could only giggle as I watched a stream of water pouring out of the phone.

Luckily for us, the mountain men must have been taking an afternoon nap since I can only imagine what would have happened if we stopped and went into the woods......

This is the third album from James Young that came outside of Styx, and it was released during a downtime for the band. Enjoy!

1995....I made an error above, it' not 1985. And it doesn't sound like Styx actually, you're just throwing around high-fallutin' stuff like Nick Cave and Peter Murphy and I just needed to put you in your place.
Bauhaus and The Bad Seeds though? Never really got into either of them, but if there's a similarity, that would seem quite odd, but very interesting.

So there!
