Video's of the week #25

It's VOTW#25 and I'm going to celebrate by throwing in some EXSTRA good video's, and let's take 5 new ones and 2 classics and still no "Holiday-videos" :

1. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - TAKE A LOAD OFF

The newest video/single from their 6th and latest album, released in may 2010.

2. HINDER - ALL AMERICAN NIGHTMARE

The american Rock-band, Hinder with a new video from their their new album (release date 7th december 2010) by the same name "All American Nightmare".

3. ALTER BRIDGE - ISOLATION

At last a video from the awesome album "III". This is definetly "new band of the year" for me, and I've bought 2 great albums by them. Sorry I did'nt listen before, RJhog!! Is it album of the year???? We'll see.

4. MOTÖRHEAD - GET BACK IN LINE

I had planned to buy this album, and put it in NMC next week, but the release-date was moved to 17th of january 2011 or something. Maybe I'll change my mind within the next month?!

5. THE DAMNED THINGS - WE'VE GOT A SITUATION HERE

Now, I AM planning to have this in next weeks NMC. I've just ordered the album, and should have it monday or tuesday next week. The releasedate is 14th of december. If it should fail, then I've got some nice techno somewhere.

6. KISS - CREATURES OF THE NIGHT

This should be 2 points from RJhog?! Not from the best periode in KISSTORY, but a good song.

7. KING COBRA - HUNGER

I remember hearing Carmine Appice say, that he had looked at Mötley Crüe, where they had a blond singer and 3 black-haired guys, and then think "why not make a band with me with dark hair, and the rest should have blond hair"? Nice way to create a new band?! Cheesefactor??

Dang Niels! It took 25 episodes before Kiss made an appearance...but it's all good. This edition looks good, so I'm looking forward to watching these videos. I'll certainly report back with my ratings.

STP (1 point)

Not my favorite on the album, but it's not bad. The song and video each get 0.5 points. I really dig the bass player's style of bass playing, with the neck of the bass pointed almost straight up. Cool dude.

Hinder (2 points)

I finally got to see this one.  I like it.  The song is surprisingly good.  This band's first album was very good and I really looked forward to their second one, until I got it.  It was not good.  I listened to the samples for this one the other day and wasn't impressed.  But hearing the whole song was the trick.  The video, what can I say, hot chick for the whole video, it gets my highest rating.

Alter Bridge (1.5 points)

Outstanding song from an outstanding album. 1 point. The video is somewhere around average. I'll give it 0.5 points. I was real surprised to see Myles Kennedy playing the solo.

Motorhead (0.75 Points)

The song doesn't do much for me, but I did like the guitar solo, so 0.25 points. Only one thing about the video stood out to me, that's the chick in the red dress beside the roulette table. 0.5 points just for her.

The Damned Things (2 points)

Never heard of this band, but this song and video both rule. One point each. Is that the Anthrax dude? Scott Ian I think is his name. Is he in this band or is this a cameo. Either way, the video is funny and cool. I love when he destroys the woman at the end. I'm looking forward to hearing some more of this album in NMC.

Kiss (1.75 points)

The song is perfect, so 1 point. I'm giving 0.75 points for the video 'cause it's a bit cheesy. As a matter of fact, I don't believe I've ever seen this before. I wonder how Ace felt air guitaring somebody else's solo. I would have only given 0.5 points for the video, but Eric Carr (RIP) made me bump it up another 0.25 points. I miss him in the band.

King Cobra (0 points / Cheese Factor 9)

Yep, there is cheese all over this thing. I don't care for the song or the video, but I don't hate either one. I dislike the cookie cutter songwriting, but I like the dual guitar attack, so I'll balance that and stay neutral.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS... (2 points)
I have a bias when it comes to this band. I love their music! And I think Scott Weiland is the best singer in Rock over the past 15 - 20 years. It is not the best song off the CD but its a strong track. 1 point for the song! Great performance by a band who knows how to work a stage and an audience, another full point. Max points!

HINDER... (1.5 points)
Not sure why this quote comes to mind but it does - "Beavis... I have seen the top of the mountain, and it was good", Butthead. 1 point for the video. The song is good, not great, but good, not sure what to think of the singer (Not the lip syncher in the video, I know what I think about her) but the actual singer is just OK. .5 points. All around not bad!

ALTER BRIDGE... (2 points)
I can't remove my bias on this one either. So whats to comment about? Great band, strong song, cool video displaying a cool performance in a cool location! Max points!

MOTORHEAD... (.75 points)
Rooftop performance, at least its not an abandoned warehouse or room. I like that! Like the guitar sound, pretty cool! Not a Lemmy fan though, don't get his vocal style, but everyone in rock thinks he's the coolest, so I keep trying to like Motorhead, but its just not working! Song is just ok, .25 points. video is slightly better .5 points.

THE DAMNED THINGS... (1 points)
You know, this video is the damnedest thing! hahaha... I kinda liked it! .5 points. The song on the other hand doesn't really strike me as anything but run-of-the-mill... but the riff's are heavy and really cool in the chorus. .5 points

KISS... (2 points)
I think we know where this is going... I thought that Creatures really re-focused the band in the right direction, it just took a strange turn when Ace left, but I liked this era. No one pulls off a performance video like KISS. They cant be touched! 1 point. The song is one of the best concert openers you will find. 1 point. Max Points galore today!

KING COBRA... (0 points with a cheese factor of 6)
Lots of fringe on the singers outfit and the silhouette of him was really bad! I mean really bad! And stop that jumping and sliding on things. hahaha... OK those four blondes were all the same guy, right? Cliche song, yuck! But a high cheese factor on this, but I'm gonna temper that just a bit because of their drummer.
