Marin Independent Journal has issued the following report from Paul Liberatore:
SAMMY HAGAR - rocker, restaurateur, raconteur. Not necessarily in that order.

Even at 63, the always energetic rock hall of famer has a lot of balls in the air. He's juggling the January opening of his new restaurant in Mill Valley; the final edit of his autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life As A Rocker; the sophomore album of his band, CHICKEFOOT; and his first onstage interview, part of an upcoming new speakers series at Marin Center.

And, oh, yeah, there's the sold-out, December 11th world premiere at Mill Valley's 142 Throckmorton Theatre of Go There Once, Be There Twice, a documentary celebrating the 21st anniversary of his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico's Cabo San Lucas. The screening's a benefit for Ritter House and Homeward Bound.

The doc's a kind of a history of Cabo, but it's also a cavalcade of Hagar hairstyles over the ages.

"You see every era of my look," he laughed. "Everyone thinks I've always looked the same, but let me tell you I haven't."

Sammy insists he's not "an inventory guy." He says he's not one to look back or pat himself on the back or check his bank account to see how much he's got in there. (A lot.)

"I don't do that," he maintained. "I just keep on rollin', man, as fast as I can."

But he's had to do some personal reflection, some looking back on his life for "Red," due in the new year from HarperCollins.

"The book's basically done, but the editors want me to go deeper in a couple of areas," he explained. "They said, 'There were problems in VAN HALEN? Well, what kind of problems?' The way I've written this book is that I'm just telling the stories, from childhood until now. It's humorous in places, there are sad things, inspirational things."
