It’s the opening Chapter of our Annual Christmas Party!
I pulled out on some Old Favorites
.
And a pretty good opening set of kickass Rock & Roll.
Then there are always some enduring Classics that I may want to play, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun with them.
That will be case…

Moving on to John Lennon in our remembrance of the lives of two men who were a part of something that probably will never happen again, the phenomenon that was the Beatles.
Dec. 8th is the anniversary of John's…

Again, it's that strange time between the deaths of George Harrison, November 29, 2001 and John Lennon, December 8, 1980- two former Beatles.
Without The Beatles, I don’t love Music like I do- simple as that!
So the loss of any of the Fab Four will always be personal.
Doing these shows, I try to bring a different angle to…

I am Re-creating a show broadcast Nov. 28th 2006, Ten Years and One Day Ago, then called Post Turkey Leftovers.
Playing the same things I did then with slight modifications.
For instance, I removed Rattlin’ Bog because I played it recently.
Replaced it with something totally different!
And it turns out this Old Show was not only a Forerunner for future shows such as Odds & Ends and Faves &…

This is a strange idea, take a show from Nov. 28th 2006, Ten Years and One Day Old, and re-create it.
Actually Re-Record it!
The same thing that happened to me 10 years ago, happened again.
In the Thanksgiving Festivities, I gave no thought to a Rock show.
So I listened to an old one, called Post Turkey Leftovers, wrote down what I played, and thought I would do it again.
This is as close to a…

The Holiday is getting very close as people are making there way Home For Thanksgiving.
Something about Thanksgiving brings out the Farmlands, the Country Roads, Country Comforts for this City Guy!
Maybe because it seems a prettier Trip Home.
Or maybe it's just the Vegetables, lol!
So a brief trip Down Home.
Plus Music for Traveling Far Away, A Peaceful Place, and finally a Sit Down to A Norman…

It's time again for the annual Rockollections Trip Home For Thanksgiving- the most heavily traveled time of year in the United States.
I try not to repeat songs each year, so it's a Different Way Home with new stops along the way and some interesting choices.
We'll hear a Jug Band that only made one album, in 1964, and included Steve Katz, Maria D'Amato later to become Maria Muldaur, and John…

This musical NYC Marathon is at the 13 mile mark, so the Race is either half over or there is still half to go- kind of like that old glass of water and its fullness, lol!
I myself have never been into Long Distance Running, it's too vague for me, I much prefer to see the goal I am running for.
In Baseball, going from first to third on a single...that makes sense, and…

I am going to do a show I have wanted to do for years.
There has always been a clash with Halloween being on October 31st, and the NYC Marathon coming on the 1st Sunday of November!
And I would forget about it.
So I am Running With The Marathon...in a manner of speaking, lol!
It is a long, grueling run of over 26 miles, that touches each of our 5 boroughs- one of the major…

Well, this is it, I wrap it up with the Saints, this year's replacement for a Halloween show.
I had a ball going through my Music Library pulling out these songs for such an unconventional topic.
I'll begin with an A-List Group you wouldn't expect to hear on a Saints show- never, ever with these bad boys...er...elderly gentlemen, lol!
Then, a nice long set of music containing one (maybe two) Classics, a…

One week ago it was All Saints Day.
I pulled out a bunch of songs in acknowledgement, and I am not the kind of guy to just put them back unplayed- there were too many good ones in there.
However you feel about Saints is not important, although I would be shocked if you disliked them- there's no good reason for that.
Believe or disbelieve, it's all just Music!
And you have to…

More honoring the Saints with our Music!
St. Peter is a big-name Saint, he appears in very, very many songs, but sometimes you have to listen for it.
That's the case with the first two songs in this Chapter.
I'll finally get around to that All Saints Day/Halloween connection.
When I do these Themes, I often go back mentally and try to think of the first song I can remember hearing about the selected…

Rockollections finally falls on November 1st, All Saints Day!
So no Halloween show this year, but instead a sort of Anti-Halloween show.
And you should know that without All Saints Day, there is no Halloween!
I will cover that, but mostly I'll take a Rock & Roll look at the Saints.
Including the peculiar matter of St. Christopher, that patron of Safe Travel, being taken off…

It’s Volume 5 of the Playing Favorites And Guilty Pleasures shows.
After a Blue-Eyed Soul beginning, this took a definite Folkie turn.
I have a Song in here you might remember that was finally released in True Stereo after 42 years!
Also Tom Rush from that Trolling For Owls CD being as funny as I’ve ever known him to be- what a joyous album.
Then a Song I don’t recall ever playing on the show before.
If you…

Time for one of those Playing Favorites And Guilty Pleasures shows- Volume 5.
A chance to re-create what it would be like if you came over to my house, sat with a beverage and I got to play some Songs for you.
By no means are these My Favorite Songs Of All Time or The Best Records Ever Made, although I do hit on one sometimes.
They are simply Songs I grabbed out of scattered piles that I Happen To Like or Have a…

24 years and one week ago, an All-Star Celebration of Bob Dylan's first album took place at Madison Square Garden.
This was a momentous, fitting tribute to one of the true Living Legends of our time.
This is the closer, and we’ll hear some of the biggest names in the world of Rock & Roll with the music of Bob Dylan.
I had not heard this Concert in years…what a wonderful…

Well, now it was 24 years and ONE WEEK ago, on October 16, 1992, that an all-star celebration of the 1962 release of Bob Dylan's first album took place at Madison Square Garden.
And things will get musically very interesting as the evening goes along that Neil Young humorously but aptly nicknamed Bobfest!
For these last two parts we have a dream lineup.
We’ll hear some of the biggest names in the world of Rock &…

It was 24 years ago, on October 16, 1992, that an all-star celebration of the 1962 release of Bob Dylan's first album took place at Madison Square Garden here in New York City.
I did this show in 2012 and this is the second of four parts in which I will play what I consider the highlights of the Concert.
This short Series seemed like a good idea because enough time has passed for there to be a good number of people who have…

It was 20 years ago to the DAY when I did this show in 2012.
An all-star celebration of the 1962 release of Bob Dylan's first album took place at Madison Square Garden here in New York City on October 16, 1992.
And now amazingly, Dylan's career started 54 YEARS AGO!
I will play what I consider the highlights of the Concert.
Simply, I could not fit all the performances into two hours, so choices had to be…

Finishing up last Thursday's National Coffee Day and Saturday's International Coffee Day.
I'll have some Old-Sounding Songs, some are actually Pre-Rock & Roll.
And not to be selfish and self-centered, for the Non-Coffee Drinkers and the British, a brief stop for Tea Time!
But it's Coffee we are celebrating, so we'll have One Cup Of Coffee and One More Cup Of Coffee.
To end, it should be mentioned that Coffee…
