ROCKOLLECTIONS: CALL ME MISTER PELL PT.1

Well I warned you.
Something about the Summer brings a yearning for Oldies to me.
This is a departure from the usual Music I play, almost all the songs will be from the 50's and early 60's.
A sense of History and a healthy Respect for what went before are vital to understanding how we got where we are.
A trip back to the pre-Beatles days.
When I told my friend Lou the first song I was going to play, he mentioned that he thought it was the Theme Song for an Oldies show by WCBS-FM DJ Gus Gossert.
Now that I think about it, I believe he is correct.
Oh, and what would Rockollections be without a Theme?
All the songs will have MR. in the title.
And unless someone stops me, I may go up through the years and decades playing more and more of them, lol!
It's different, and perfect for Hot Weather, so enjoy!

RJ,

No, no...Garth tried to bring something different to the song.

But the Fleetwoods are far superior!

Jon.
Say, arent't you the guy who less than a week ago was asking/begging me to play Oldies?
And nelieve it or not there are many hard-core Oldies people who think music changed  for the worse, ended actually, with the arrival of the Beatles.
Detroit isn't the East, it's almost Canada for chrissakes, lol!
In hockey the Red Wings are in the Western Conference.
I was going to mention something like that about the Mr Softee song, but thought better about it.
You would have been much worse!
I like Garth Brooks, but haven't heard snything from him in a long time.
Calm down, it's like you're calling for Oldies, lol!
I met a Philomena, an Italian girl who is a nurse and played the accordion- always thought the name and the accordion were funny.
Hell, I'm STILL not PC, lol!
Cupid, winged cherub, with a machine gun...only you, lol!
I went to the doctor and he sucked out all gook from my ear.
He had to do it 6 or 7 times.and would ask me if I wanted to look in the pan- of course I did, lol!
But now I can HEAR...IN BOTH EARS!!!
No ICEPICK necessary!
Do you how screwed up that was for someone who is always lisening to music?
Not watching those stupid videos mind you, but listening, lol?
Thanks for the listen and writing, more Oldies later, then I might change my approach to the Theme,
Mike

Maybe it's just me, but I wish you would play newer stuff occasionally. Maybe mix some new stuff with old stuff? Again, that's just me. Wishing.

I'm from the East Coat but have never heard that song. Until now!

That Mr Softee song was funny. Would have been funnier if a woman sang it, and then it would have begged the question "WHY??!!" Just me again?

Mr Blue.....I've heard this song before but it was by someone else. NOT Garth Brooks. Definitely 100% absolutely NOT him. Never heard a GB song and, hopefully, never will. Hell, I was going along good with my life by not ever hearing that "Call Me Maybe" song until last week when the woman couldn't understand why I was freaking out when the song came on the radio in the car. What an awful song and I only caught maybe 30 seconds of it. Why did people buy it or even listen to it? Holy *&$^%#%&*&@*(($#**$&^%#@%#* it was so suckily bad I had to drive icepicks into my ears just to get any of the songs residual crap from my ears.

Never met a woman named Penelope. Would like to. Just a goal in my life. Kinda sexist to call her a chick though. It was the 50's. They weren't PC. I just hafta accept that.

Wonder if people would feel different about Cupid if he toted around a machine gun. An arrow can do damage to the heart, don't know why people want THAT, maybe they need a wakeup call. A winged cherub with a machine gun would change their thinking quite quickly I would think. But then again, they wanted Cupid to shoot her, so maybe they just don't care.

Ear infection? ICEPICK!

RJ,
I knew I would have trouble with you guys about this, lol!
Well there is another half, after that I may try to sprinkle them in.
Honestly, I thought I was good, especially considering my infected ear (still have it, trying to get to a doctor).
I like the rant I went on about DJ's being babysitters, lol!
Their complete lack of substance and relevance.
I'll take that Golden Pell for Mr. Blue by The Fleetwoods.
I've always loved that song, just a classic!
I didn't know Garth Brooks did it.
Got a couple of other different songs with the same title, including the world's loudest band. at least they were in the Guinness book for it.
Glad you found somethinhg cool in there...besides me, LOL!
Thanks for gritting your teeth and listening, hope you will continue,
Mike

Oldies, mehhh.  I like 'em sprinkled in more than I do a full plate of 'em.

That being said, I do have a Golden Pell for you.  It's Mr. Blue from The Fleetwoods.  I like that one.  Truth be told, I've heard it before by another artist.  I do believe it was Garth Brooks.  Oh well, either way it's a cool song.
