ROCKOLLECTIONS: FALL FASHION SHOW - SHOES PT.1

Being your average guy with important things on my mind like the Baseball season winding down, Football starting up, and Hockey on the horizon, those big deal Fall Fashion Shows always come and go...THEN I find out about them.

Is is too much to ask that they be held in the FALL so I might at least think of them in time, LOL?

For years now, I have had plans to do a Series of shows on the Theme of Fashion- not that I know anything about Fashion, but I do know songs.

But again this year those Fashionista happenings came and went without my awareness, so late or not, I will forge ahead.

However, I will limit myself to a couple of shows on just one aspect of apparel...Shoes.

As you will hear me say, I fully expect and accept that I will say something politically incorrect or what may be considered sexist.

But it will go for both genders, as I have already taken a poke at my own maleness in that opening sentence.

It is certainly no secret that Shoes mean more to Women than they do to most Men.

Women seemingly can't own enough pairs of them!

But in picking out Music for two weeks of shows with more Shoe songs than I can Shoehorn in, I have discovered that Men sing about them more- a rather surprising discovery!

I think we have talked about Starts & Endings always being very important to me- that was a good one and I said nothing beforehand for effect.

You did send me Winger, I have it right here, and it was gutsy of them to name a different song the same as one so well-known!

I like it a lot, but until I sit down and go with the show I never know what I will play.

Plus believe it or not, I now have too MANY Shoe songs, lol!

Wow man, I didn't know you felt so strongly about Those Shoes...got you on my side right away eh, lol!

I tell you, that whole album by the Everly Brothers is an unknown gem, and not because I am a fan of of theirs.

Maybe I'll send you some tracks..but lately when I do AOL acts up...&^TUIHGH&ITI AOL!

Kirsty McColl was an Irish singer, and if you ever get the chance, listen to her with the Pogues on a Christmas song called Faerie Tale In New York- very funny fighting between them in a song that opens in a drunk tank.

Incidentally Pogue Mohone means kiss my ass in Gaelic, lol!

I say was, because I was shocked to find she was killed by a boat in Mexico in 2000, very strange story.

So, nice she gets the Golden Pell, that's a sexy song!

That one I KNEW I was going to play, and looking up precisely when it came out is when I saw she had died.

I'll tell you what's cool though, that you can still FIT into something you bought back in the early 80's!

I think I have made it clear that I too am not at all into Fashion, that's what makes this fun for me- it's dipping into a strange other world.

I thought everybody would expect me to play that Eagles song, so I did it right away...with a rather cleverly comical introduction I thought, regarding men's hesitancy to go into any sort of Ladies' store, lol!

I don't know the Busboys, and while I pulled out their music I honestly I don't really like Nu Shooz.

A better group is The Shoes, from some European country that eludes me now.

The Deborah Harry soundalike, do you mean Kirsty McColl?

She sounds sexy enough in that song!

We ALL agree dude, high heels do indeed make your butt look splendid, lol!

You can't tell, but there was a long delay in my writing here.

I was busy throwing up in the bathroom after that last sentence of yours!
