Jon,

Bowie may have been huge then, but has he EVER been bigger than Jagger?

I don't think so.

Think I like the Roger Taylor version better than Springsteen!

Could be because the cover of the single had Bowie on the left and Jagger on the right. Could be that Bowie was really huge then due to "Let's Dance", but he did have another album come out in '84 which wasn't as big. Maybe Bowie * Jagger sounds better than Jagger and Bowie. Maybe it was done alphabetically. Maybe nobody cares?

Anyhow, here's the Roger Taylor version. There was no official video, so you don't have to watch.

RJ,
It's been summer there for three months?
Glad I'm not, lol!
It's not that George was underutilized, as can be heard on the remastered albums, he was a fantastic guitarist.
His early songwriting problem was that he'd tell the other guys he had a new song, and they would immediately name the one he took the beat or melody from, lol!
Look at the problem he had with My Sweet Lord.
But he learned.
Summer Breeze by The Isley Brothers was new to me, can't imagine how I missed it, but I'm not alone, others have mentioned it to me.
I was just trying to give people a chance to hear a different version.
And you may own the album, lol?
I did like the lead guitar riff in this song, and go along with way cool.
It wasn't so much a shout out to Jon as a shout AT, lol!
Right now, I am not the guy to ask if we should just start calling him the Spoiler.
This makes me laugh, "This has got to be the greatest set you've ever played.  Not because of the songs. I for one agree with Jon that those first two you played are pretty crappy. But you wrapped it up with a song by The Boss and it's the greatest ever because you intentionally played songs to annoy Jon. I don't think you've ever admitted to doing that before.  He can really get under the skin, right?"
Do you have to ask, LOL?
Honestly though, I LIKE Katrina & Waves song a lot- and always had in the back of my mind to play the Dancing & Racing In The Street songs because of the contrast, almost a Point/Counterpoint with "Summer's here and the time is right for dancing/racing in the streets"!
And the only reason I used Bowie & Jagger is because I played Martha & Vandellas Original last time.
This is good too, lol, "Heck, I even liked the closing instrumental.  It came out the year I was born, and I believe I remember it playing on the overhead speakers that night in the delivery room :-)"...damn, I don't remember anything at all, lol!
And the Golden Pell to The Boss!
Funny thing is, although some critics have called it lyrical gem, I've never cared for it that much.
It's slow and goes on too long.
I only played it because of the reason above, lol!
And same for you about True Detective, if you get a clue what's happening kindly keep it to yourself, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Jon,
You got that right, although I had nothing to do with the ad for a funeral home on the Spreaker page, lol!
I would, it's always wise to plan ahead and get things done.
I love that first song!
And I only heard that Isley Brothers version recently myself.
Both versions are likable, but I thought I'd give people a chance to hear a different one- even though it was a hit nobody seemed to know it.
Damn right, "Oh. Yeah. I deserved that.", LOL!
It's come up before, I don't like videos so I have no memory of the Bowie/Jagger video.
And why does Bowie get top billing over Jagger, did they do it alphabetically?
No, I didn't know that Roger Taylor from Queen did a cover version of that BS song, was there a video, lol?
I would have played that set anyway, but it gave me a chance for a some justice.
When you get a clue what's happening on "True Detective" kindly keep it to yourself!
PEACE OUT Trekkie!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and not saying anything out of the CRB realm, lol,
Mike

It's obvious you don't live in Georgia.  It's been summer here for three months.  Still, this show was boss!  Let me tell you why:

Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles.  Honestly, it's never been a particular favorite of mine, but I enjoyed it none the less.  Do you ever get the feeling George was slightly underutilized during the band's tenure?

Summer Breeze - What a cool cover by The Isley Brothers.  Believe it or not, I think I own the album that this song comes from.  And how cool is the lead guitar riff in this song?  Way cool, that's how cool it is.

And we get a shout out to Jon.  Maybe we should just start calling him the Spoiler.  This has got to be the greatest set you've ever played.  Not because of the songs.  I for one agree with Jon that those first two you played are pretty crappy.  But you wrapped it up with a song by The Boss and it's the greatest ever because you intentionally played songs to annoy Jon.  I don't think you've ever admitted to doing that before.  He can really get under the skin, right?

Heck, I even liked the closing instrumental.  It came out the year I was born, and I believe I remember it playing on the overhead speakers that night in the delivery room :-)

I'll give the Golden Pell to The Boss.  I may have heard that before, but I don't particularly remember it, so it qualifies.

Nice work brother.

I think this show was trying to tell me something. There was an ad for a funeral home on the Spreaker page and that feels like an omen. Guess I should call them and get things done?

I felt like having a lollipop while listening to that first song. Don't know why.

Don't think I've ever heard that Isley Brothers version before. But it sure does rock out more than the Seals & Crofts version. Both versions are fine though.

Just hanging around, reading stuff and then......

WAS THAT MY NAME??????? WTFH??????

Oh. Yeah. I deserved that.

But I sure as poop didn't deserve that next song. That was soooooooooooo MEAN!!!!!!

Yet, I deserved it. I can take it. I just can't take that song.

I like that Bowie/Jagger song, but not the video. Pretty bad video.

Did you know that Roger Taylor from Queen did a cover version of that BS song? It's off his "Strange Frontier" album.

I must say that this was an interesting show. I guess I won't tell you what happened on "True Detective" because I really have no clue what's happening.

PEACE OUT!!!!
