ROCKOLLECTIONS: MAKING A MOUNTAIN OUT OF...PT.2

Looking at that picture, I confess that these shows were originally called Making A Mountain Out Of A Fat Guy, a rather coarse play on the expression about making one out of a molehill.
That long, unwieldy and insulting title has been shortened.
Guess I have tenderized over the years, becoming the sweet, lovable host you have come to love, lol.
I will continue in this chapter our exploration of Leslie West and Mountain.
Plus the beginnings of their Jack Bruce connection- he of Cream fame.
They already had Felix Pappalardi who produced Cream, and the great Corky Laing joined the group!
Bruce's Theme For An Imaginary Western is in here.
As well as a song about Max Yasgur's farm, where Woodstock was held.
Got a personal story about my favorite album by the band, Nantucket Sleighride.
By the way, do you WHAT a Nantucket Sleighride is?
You'll find out here!
Like good guitar work, you'll like this.
Enjoy!

The Invasion of the Chicory Tips, lol!

Back then when I did the show, if a holiday or something I thought important enough was on that day or coming soon, I would donate the END of the show to it.

Even if it meant interrupting what I was doing that day!

Sorry for untooling you, lol!

I actually meant that Father song was totally unrelated to the show you were doing...at least I thought it was.  You see, I was tooling along, listening to various Leslie West offers, when in rode this song about a father from Chicory Tip.  It just didn't seem to fit the Mountain theme.

RJ,
Well you DO like guitar, lol!
We all make the same mistake...it is Theme FOR An Imaginary Western...sounds better our way though.
I LOVE that one.
It's Yasgur's Farm, and it wins the Golden Pell!
These were too close for me to pick a Golden Pell you might choose- but for my likes, I would probably have given it to Nantucket Sleighride followed by the Imaginary Western.
But we all have our tastes and they were all close contenders.
You couldn't lose, and now you know what a Nantucket Sleighride is, lol!
Not sure what you mean here- "But where did Son Of My Father come from?"
It is an old show, around Father's Day...you can tell by the Theme music.
But the real answer, if it was a real question, is Chicory Tip came from England, lol!
Happy you enjoyed this one.
Man I am on vacation with the worst things happening- even the weather- I can't even see out my window with the rain so heavy!
And I am supposed to go to Rhode Island...damn!
Thanks for writing the positive feedback, and listening,
Mike

Mike, thanks for introducing us to this music.  It's really fantastic.  It is really gelling for me with the style of music that I've been into lately.

I missed a couple of the song titles on this show, but here's what I liked:

---Theme From An Imaginary Western - this song is terrific.  The guitar soloing on it is out of this world.

---For Yazgers Farm - I'm sure I didn't spell that correctly.   Man, I really liked this one.  I liked it so much I'm giving it the Golden Pell, though it was a close battle between these two songs.

And hey, now I know what a Nantucket Sleigh Ride is.

But where did Son Of My Father come from?  I know it's an old show and was obviously around Father's Day, but that one threw me for a loop.

Great show.

Yeah...man I hate this stuff!
I am not good at computers, and sometimes people act as if I was supposed to have been BORN with this knowledge.

Makes me want to smack 'em in the head, lol!

You might have to go to properties and change some stuff around to get the right font.

I put a driver CD in, and now I am getting some sound out.

Remains to be seen if I can get sound IN, so I can do a show.

One result of the CD installation...everything is smaller now...I can barely read emails on AOL.

And they seem to have their own settings I haven't figured out yet.

F***ing computers, many times I just want to walk away from them for good!

You get up one day, do NOTHING unusual, and the whole goddam thing is out of whack!

Sound card maybe? Think you can go to your settings and check out audio, see if anything is out of whack.

Good thinking...or drugs...on your part.

Actually you can tell right away by the theme music!

Dammit, I went to do a show, and my voice was coming out all garbled.

Now there is no SOUND on my computer!

No speaker icon by the clock, I can't change any settings in Audio, can't even click on the sound card in Control Panel- it ignores it.

I got NOTHIN'!

NO SOUND can go in, NO SOUND coming out!

Some vacation, now I gotta bring this crap in to be fixed!
