ROCKOLLECTIONS: SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2012 PT.2 END

Over the years since September 11th, 2001 we have grown more divided, and that saddens me.
We were so united in those days following the attacks by muslim terrorists.
And those happy-go-lucky muslims continue- today invading the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and burning our flag...your flag...my flag...and any flag that isn't theirs!
The day saddens me...angers me...who the hell feels like writing?
This year I went deep into my library for songs I have never played for 9/11 before.
I'll put the final touch on this year's remembrance of September 11th with some thoughts and music about Taking a Stand, New York and the Country.
Again I'll speak what is on my mind, do some flag-waving and play some damned good music in the process!
With a rousing finale from a USO performance in Iraq that brings it to a close.
Be good to the Military...we'll NEED them!
God Bless America!

They are Muslim terrorists! There's no two-ways about it!  All these so-called Tolerance police need to get a grip!  I take stand against radical Islam and call for moderate Islam to do the same (I wont hold my breath waiting for that however)

Had no idea that New York State of Mind was done by anybody else!  Cool version!  I gotta say you threw me for a loop though, I thought you said the Mark Allman band, and I was thinking very hard if there was such an Allman brother.  But I think its Mark ALMOND, correct? (had to google it to set my mind at ease)

Golden Pell easily goes to the Orleans!  Really nice tune!  I have one album from them (Let There Be Music) and that's it, maybe I should fix that...

PS:  RJ is gonna love you for that last tune!  Jon?  eh..  not so much...  :-)

Jon,
Hold your Kisses...please, lol!
Your guess is correct, it wasn't him.
I don't like that guy because he causes confusion with a band I like!
Thanks for the listen and writing buddy,
Mike

Another nice tribute show, Mike! I'll even begrudgingly give you Kiss.

Mark Almond...that's funny. I thought it was marc Almond, they guy from Soft Cell and I was thinking to myself, "Really?" But guess it wasn't him.

RJ,
You are correct, I am indeed a patriot...I think it is the way you are raised.
In my family with Mom and Dad it was always God, Country and Family & Friends, not always necessarily in that order, lol!
Naturally the events of yesterday in that hellhole that is the Middle East have me steaming!
You may have noticed too I am not always the most organized, I don't do playlists, so I depend on memory to tell me if I have played a song before or not- and except in certain cases I do NOT like to repeat a song.
If you hear me play a particular song, odds are I will never play it again.
There are too many out there I haven't played to repeat songs.
That's why I have to laugh at internet stations that proudly state they have 5,000 or 10,000, even 20,000 songs in their rotation...you will not hear a song repeated for 6 months or a year!
Hell, you KNOW I would want to play the 20,001st, LOL!
Like that Denny Doherty song.
But it was 14 years for me doing this in August, plus I guess I am getting older, so it is harder to tell what I have played or not.
Like I don't remember playing the Kiss thing, and I was hoping it would be a thrilling surprise to you!
As I stated, I also don't recall why New York State Of Mind was released by the Mark-Almond Band first- even tried looking on the internet, but nothing about it.
It is just a personal memory, as I spent every moment I was at home back at that time listening to the radio and distinctly remember a few DJ's commenting on it and playing it.
So I cannot prove I am right, but it is just as difficult for anyone to prove me wrong, lol!
I don't know which I like better, both are valid to me- but I played Mark-Almond as a curiosity...for their footnote for doing it first...and I like the band.
Know anything about them?
Playing them once makes me think of all the great songs they did, and I want to play more!
Thanks for the listen, writing, and the Golden Pell,
Mike

Another good show Mike.  Very patriotic, as I can tell you are definitely a patriot.

All the songs were good, even the Kiss thing you threw in at the end.   You've played that one before, I'm positive.

The most interesting song to me was the original version of New York State Of Mind.  I was pretty sure Billy Joel wrote the song, but I had no idea that it had been released by the Mark Almond Band even before Joel released it.  I'm gonna give the Golden Pell to these guys, but quite honestly, I still think the Billy Joel version is a bit better.

Enjoyed it.
