ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE BRITISH INVASION PT.3

As I write this, 50 years ago tonight, Feb. 9th 1964, the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show for the first time.
I watched it as a kid, and it's an odd feeling knowing what you did PRECISELY on a given date a half century ago!
In fact, it's never happened before.
As I recall, it was the first of 3 consecutive weeks of appearances for those guys from Liverpool on the Sullivan show.
And I see CBS has the good sense to have a special on tonight honoring that grand moment in Musical History.
The blurb for tonight's show says, "The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute To The Beatles"- it also says "Popular artists perform Beatles songs".
I'll watch it, but those two things give me pause- that the GRAMMYS have anything to do with it, and those "Popular artists" may mangle the songs like an aural equivalent to the Beatles' BUTCHER album cover!
Time will tell whether I enjoy it or roll my eyes and take something for an upset stomach, lol!
That being said, I'll continue here with some more of the Original Artists who made their contributions to the British Invasion of 50 Years ago.
No matter what I see tonight, these cannot be improved on.
Enjoy the Music...it's History now, lol!

The 50th anniversary show was pretty cool.  Except for that Katy Perry song it was A-OK!  Jon even loved that Dave Grohl was there.

Jon's questions make my head spin, did he actually listen or just log in to annoy us?  We Gotta Get Out Of This Place has to rival Yesterday for most covered song, don't ya think?  Sorry didn't mean to pile on the questions.

Nice show!!

So that first song you played? I heard it before, but it had nothing to do with The Beatles! This one came out in '64, but there was a version in '60 and '63, one from a play and the other from a movie. Can you guess what play/movie the song is from?

I like Donovan, but can you guess which of his songs is my favorite? HINT: You didn't play it, but I do like to songs you played, but none of them were my favorite ever Donovan songs.

Didn't we have a discussion before about Eric Burdon and if he was a punk ass beeyotch? I always though he was, but from reading it seems like he's not? But why would he join WAR?

So why did Gerry want to play with heart equipment? When was the pacemaker invented. When was it first used on a human? And when was it first used on a monkey?

Too many questions? Too bad!

Great show, Mike?
