Mike,
I'll be honest, totally honest. I'm not much of a fan of any of these songs, with the possible exception of Little Richard's version of Long Tall Sally. But you know, it's just an opinion.
The Beatles record in this contest for me was 1-1-3. Yep, I did give The Beatles the edge on the last song. Everything else was a draw 'cause I just couldn't get into those songs. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
That certainly won't stop me from listening to Volume III when it's released.
"Dying in the heat"!!! You lucky SOB!! I've got a 3 week's vacation at the moment, and right now it's raining, no it's not just raining, it's raining cats and dogs, it's pouring down!!! Is'nt that what you say "over there"???
"Money" is Lennon at his best (yet again!!), so it's easily the Beatles, who win's this one.
Ahhh, at last Paul on the vocals, and what a vocal!! He's got a great Rock'N'Roll voice, even though Lennon said, that HE was the best, singing those songs. But, but, but....Little Richard's original version is the best by far. Hey, I wanna dance
And I'll keep on dancing, hearing the next "Beatles"-song. Yet AGAIN, a great vocal from John!! A VERY great vocal from him!!! Actually this is one of the best "covered by the Beatles"-tracks, you have played. I've heard it many times, but I just realized that. Even though the original is very good, The Beatles were better!!! Great song, and a great riff!!!!!
.......and then, it's NOT so good. I don't think, Ringo's "songs" were very good at that time. From "Yellow Submarine" and on, they were better. But it's GREAT the all 4 were singing lead in The Beatles. Just like KISS did 10 years later. The original here is SO much better!!!!!!!!
The last Lennon-song, is NOT one of my favorites, especially not, when The Mama's And Papa's are playing it. Mama Cass (I'll guess, it's her?) also has a great voice, but the song is MUCH, much better, when The Beatles plays it.
GREAT show, Mike!!
