Listened to this first on Monday, missed 3/4 of it so did another twofer today.
I am not a fan of Elvis at all, but Carl Perkins is another story. I can swear that years ago I saw a documentary on CP which made me like him. Could be wrong, but I swear there was one....
Dug all the tracks except for the really countryish one, think it was either the last or the second from last. I like the rockabilly stuff, but not TOO much.
And he sold 2 million copies of "Blue Suede Shoes"? That's a lot for way back then I would think. I don't even think there were 2 million people on the planet in the 50's. Mike was one, so that means there were 1,999,999 others?
I was on vacation last week, so I have a lot to catch up on.
I really enjoyed this show Mike. The inflections in Perkins voice always make me think of Elvis, but maybe that should be the other way around. I really enjoyed all of the songs you played, with Blue Suede Shoes being the only one that was familiar.
All that being said, I changed my mind twice on the Golden Pell. First it was Honey Don't, but I changed to Movie Mag when you played that. The guitar was really cool on that song. But I changed my mind again when you played Sure To Fall. My first love musically will always be great vocals, and I love the vocal style of that song, you know, a lead vocalist and a backing vocalist singing together. Great perfomance, so the Golden Pell goes to that song.
Will be catching part 2 shortly.
There are no birthdays today
