Mike, glad you're okay up there buddy! It's actually rained here a couple of times recently. But I think everybody's okay.
I can't say I'm crazy about the opener or the closer for this show (Carly Simon and Dion). Although they aren't bad, I just liked everything in between better.
The Lee Michaels song was quite cool and the Bruce Springsteen song was too. He writes a great story. But I just love Jon's description of his singing style. He's right on the money. It can be quite irritating. But like I said, he's a tremendous song writer.
And how 'bout that Richie Havens song. That was killer. I need to be sitting in a little jazz or piano bar having a cold one while that was being performed. Of course, if it was you and I sitting in that bar, you'd be having a cup of coffee.
And the Golden Pell goes to Jackson Browne. Another terrific song writer. And I'm giving him the GP, not just for the song, but for the song title as well. Before The Deluge. How cool is that word? I've been hearing another song with that word in it lately that I can't place. Wait, I think it's one of Rick Springfield's new tunes.
And how in the world could you leave out the one Jon mentioned. Sandy is my favorite song from the Grease movie.
As far as blackouts go, I immediately thought of the Scorpions as well. Maybe even Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. Or maybe Lights by Journey. Or, The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia?
Jon,
Glad you liked it...you've been a tough sell lately, lol!
Doing songs about Sandy, I couldn't NOT play that Bruce one.
And yes that was Carly Simon to start.
I said her name and quoted her lyrics, and thought that would be enough identification.
But in truth, you had to be listening somewhat closely to catch it.
Good ear for her voice my man, since you didn't!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike
Except for Bruce, I liked this show. I swear, Bruce always sounds like he starts singing right aftrer someone kicks him awake.
Was that Carly Simon at the beginning? I don't know if you mentioned her name or even if it was her, but it sounded like her.....
Jon,
You're in the game, mentioned one!
I don't know about later since I haven't done them yet, but it is in the mix.
Thinking about the Thanksgiving show now.
Mike
I'm guessing "Sandy" from Grease is one of the songs. Knowing you there might be a Springsteen song and possibly one by Dylan?
If you're doing blackouts later, will there be a Scorpions song?
Hmm....
