First, a change in the "info" above.  I'm getting rid of the RJ's favorite single and favorite hidden gem category in favor of a "Song Of The Week" pick.  These picks will represent my overall favorite track on the album and will be used again at a later date.  As far as this week's album, we've got the only studio album by Steve Miller Band that I own.  That would be Fly Like An Eagle, from 1976.  I just picked this up a couple of months ago from the used CD store.  It was a big seller (Quadruple Platinum) and hit number 3 on the Billboard Top 200.   Two of the three singles listed above were also huge, with Rock'n Me hitting number 1 and Fly Like An Eagle hitting number 2 in the U.S.

So what do I think of the album.  I think it's okay.  I'm not crazy about it.  I like all 3 singles, but I really dislike Mercury Blues and Sweet Maree.  They are both just too bluesy for me.  In my opinion, the best hidden gems would be Serenade and The Window.  Everything else is very middle of the road for me.

But of course, you should listen to it and form your own opinion.  And if you like it, go out and buy it.

8 out of 12 tracks still get frequent FM airplay on Classic Rock radio still today!  This is the album that makes a lifelong income possible.  Much like 2112 for Rush, 1984 from Van Halen, Destroyer from KISS, and Business As Usual from Men At Work ...  uh ... you know what I mean.

Mercury Blues is my Hidden Treasure (Sorry RJ your wrong on this one ), solid work on that track!  Did anyone happen to catch that Glenn Hughes bass riff on The Window?  Cool stuff...

I like this post more than RJ I think..  While it is rich with radio friendly tracks, its a seriously great album and deserves mention with the all-time Classic Rock greats!  Dont forget what he followed it up with!  Book of Dreams is another one in the same vein as this, killer from top to bottom!  (Oh and killer album cover too hint hint!)...

This is one of those albums that EVERYONE has owned at some point. I did, on vinyl, and have had this CD in my hand many times but never purchased. Great album, solid listen from beginning to end. I guess I'm going to have to pick this back up.

I only owned a compilation in the past and only kept an Mp3 of The Joker.

This has a few songs that I know from the radio. Fly Like An Eagle, Take The Money and Run Rock'n Me.

This might be a good one to own. I'll check it out on Spotify.

This is the compilation I had, and it just sounded too dated, underproduced/rough to me.

There's a new comp that came out a couple years ago, plus there's a best of with a blue cover that, I swear, EVERYONE owned, kinda like this album. Highly recommend you get the latest greatest hits package, it sounds good and does ya good if you don't want to get the studio albums.
