Classic Rock Bottom

Since the inaugural version was such a rousing success*, the power that be (there can be only one!) has decided it's time for another music challenge.

The rules are simple:

Starting 5/1/14 (that's May 1st of the year 2014 for those that have problems with numbers), you will have 31 (thirty-one) days to listen to 30 (thirty) albums. No, not just ANY albums, but a specific genre of albums.

Last November's challenge was easy. Five (5) albums each from the 60's (sixties), 70's (seventies), 80's (eighties), 90's (nineties) and 00's (umm....zeroes zeroes?). Simple. Those that completed that challenge were given to opportunity to pick a specific genre for the next challenge, which is THIS challenge.

So, you're probably asking yourself "What are the categories, or genres, this time?" Well, we don't know yet. We're making you wait and giving you ample time to get prepared. We're like that.

For those that complete the challenge, you'll be given the opportunity to pick a category for an upcoming challenge, just like those that completed the inaugural challenge. Yep, we're nice like that.

You can keep a running tally of your albums in this post. The only requirements are the album title, artist and what challenge category it falls into. You can also wait to post until you're done with the challenge. Either way is perfectly fine. We're easy like that.

All you need to do now is wait. Wait for the categories to appear below. Wait, but breathe. Always remember to breathe.

Wouldn't be surprised?

I'll listen to anything but Gospel ;-)

Now, to start compiling a list of what I plan on listening to.  Gotta have a plan.

I got a plan now. Must/shall/can we write it here or what?

I don't think so.  I was just commenting that I needed to start formulating mine.  I'm trying to change that first category one more time if Jon allows it.

You have till 4/30, but make sure it's not something stupid where we have to go thru all the crapola again.

Hoe does this work? When I've got my plan of what to hear, do I write down the plan here or what? Can we listen to some of the same albums, as others? Do we just listen when the time comes, and then write, what we have been listening to??

Question for Niels...is Judas Priest NWOBHM?

I would say yes. I know, they started some years before NWOBHM, that started around the end of 1979, but so did Maiden. Both bands are NWOBHM-bands in my opinion, as is Def Leppard.

Wait until it begins and then you can either wait until it's over to submit what you listened to (by category) or submit them one-by-one, two-by-two, etc. You can listen to whatever you want, the goal is to hit the 30 albums in May. It doesn't make a difference if more than one person listens to the same album.

Clarification request #1:  for category 6, does every song have to have female lead vocals?

Clarification request #2: for category 5, the dead band member must have appeared on the album in question, right?

1) A majority.

2) see the bottom of the challenge post
