What's The 4-1-1?

The debut release from the hard rockers from Los Angeles features 13 tracks of their trademark hardcore sound.

Genre
Hard Rock / Heavy Metal / Hardcore

The Good
The 6th track on the CD is a very well put together piano instrumental track. Two other tracks ("The Color Of Real" and "Cycle") are halfway decent. The music on A Silent Protest is uniformly pretty good. The guitar work is excellent and the drumming is really quite top notich. It's a hard-edged foundation built on the power of the drumming.

The Bad
The problem with the album is that Trigger Point falls victim to the same thing that affects my opinion of the band Lamb of God. The music is great...and then the singer opens his mouth. Maybe its just that I'm falling victim to the "If its too loud, you're too old" philosophy, but the vocals are generally just a bunch of yelling and while there are moments where a lighter touch is used, they are few and far between.

The Verdict

Good music, but I do not like the vocals. Sorry, but there is nothing really here to recommend running out and buying this CD. Of course, I'm too old, what do I know?

Did You Know?

The band's full-length debu was produced and mixed by former Machine Head and Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader.

I don't understand what the attraction to terrible vocals is.  Do you?  I've just always preferred well executed vocals.  I know I'm too old, but I've always felt that way.

Anyway, nothing here makes me wanna hear this band, however, they have a really cool band name.

I wouldnt say it has anything to do with "I'm too old" syndrome either.  If its bad, well then, its just bad.  Bad doesnt have an age limit.  For example, there are vocalists I like that sing a style I would never listen too.

I don't think the band ever released another album. Nothing came up when I went on Amazon to search for the cover art.

But the first few reviews on that site really liked the album. Which simply mystifies the hell out of me.
