Let’s travel up I-5 and stay in the Bay area for this week. Funny thing about the music scene here, the famous Summer of Love, Haight Ashbury, and the Hippies were great times with an incredible soundtrack. Today I love that music, but back then I was only 3 or 4 years old, so to make this relevant to my age group I looked at the Bay area music scene a few years later on ...
Funny thing about the music coming out of this area in the late 70's early 80's ... it was very mainstream! Technically you could make an argument for Metallica coming out of San Fran, but in reality they were an LA based band before breaking big ... So that doesn't leave a lot of heavier music to choose from, but it doesn't mean that all was bad, in fact these 4 tracks are awesome, so let’s get to it...

Did you play that Pablo Cruise before? The first time I heard it, it wasn't familiar and then when it looped back around, it see,ed that I heard it before.
Seemed a bit more up-tempo then what Pablo Cruise is all about, but then again, I've never bought a Pablo Cruise alobum in my life and probably know one or two songs and that Will Ferrell wore a Pablo Cruise shirt in one of his movies.
Decent song, almost shredded on the geetar there!
Nice from Santana! Always liked them but I have maybe two of their studio albums. One day I will have to get more.
I think Journey would have been a bigger band without Steve Perry. I think he ruined the group. Just look at the album sales before he joined the group and it just proves my point.
This made me want to drive more than the second post, but less than the first one. Maybe this was just meant for a quick cruise to the grocery store?
Pablo Cruise - Not bad, not great. I agree with Jon on the geetaring. Very nice.
Santana - This I like a lot. I mean a lot. Did I say a lot? A lot. I too have very little Santana music. Other than the covers album from a couple of years ago, I have zero. If this album is a good as this song, this looks like a nice place to start. I'm gonna visit Amazon.
Journey - This is one of my favorite Journey tunes. I do like this studio version, but I really, really love the live version on Captured. The transition from Majestic to this song on the Captured CD is awesome.
When I read those first couple of words Scott, I thought you might be headin' up to Seattle. I wonder if you might go there next? Enjoyed this post.
Which album has the song "I'm Winning" on it? Is that album any good, 'cause I love that song.
I guess I missed it, I didn't see that track listed. Thanks for the info.
Always liked Greg Kihn Band.
Nice pick Scott!
Mike
Greg Kihn is awesome. Now if we can just get remastered CD's of their studio albums. he finally got the rights back to all his Beserkley albums, they did release a greatest hits disc a year or so ago and the sound is amazing. I could go the MP3 route, but that's my last option.
Jon,
I just ripped Greg Kihn doing a song called All The Right Reasons from the Beserkley Chartbusters old vinyl album- in perfect condition
How can I get it up here?
Mike
You may can find it on youtube, or you could email it to me and I'll post it here for you.
