Classic Rock Bottom

Since some tracks from the new Yes album will be posted in NMC shortly, I decided to grab another Yes album from my collection, something that is a bit lost. And forgotten.

And as this is my last Lost/Forgotten post*, it' comes with a few extras, which I'll get to later.

"Talk" was released in 1994 and would be the last album featuring Trevor Rabin and Tony Kaye. It also had the lowest chart peak of any Yes album since 1972, as well as the shortest chart run.**

"Big Generator", the previous Yes album, was a bit darker than the monster selling "90125". Maybe that's why it sold less? Dunno, but still like the album.

This album is much lighter than "Big Generator", but there is a bit of darkness in it as well. Could be that 1994 wasn't a good year for bands like Yes, because I don't remember any hype or airplay for this album at all. Maybe I wasn't listening to the radio and reading music publications at that time either.

Either way, I stumbled across this album a few years later and picked it up on cassette. I had never heard of it, but it was cheap so I gave it a chance and found that I really liked it. Might be sacrilegious to say, but I like this album a bit better than "90125".

One of my favorite tracks, "Walls", was co-written by some guy named Roger Hodgson who was in some band that was pretty big in the 70's & 80's. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album because it's so uplifting***.

Goodbye****.

For a moment I was thinking Frank Zappa, but no.....

Are they still putting out albums?

When was the last one released?

Have they ever had a top ten album (silly question, but go with me)

Notice, how much help I'm giving, so perhaps this will be the way, we'll play this game from now on?

Yes, they are still putting out albums.

The last one was released in 2009.

I'm not really an expert on what's on american top ten-lists, but I think they've only had one single-hit in the US, and it was in the 90's.

They have had a few more hit-singles in Europe, but I definetly don't see them as a singles-band.

They have also won a few Grammys.

Gonna take a stab...Kronos Quartet?

Probably not, so

are they considered rock? If not, what genre of music are they (song was kinda rockish though)?

Never heard of Kronos Quartet.

It's Alternative Rock.

I've got 4 albums and 1 live-DVD by them. I guess it's not much of any help, but it shows, that it's not just some weirdo- unknown band, I've chosen a track from, to "kill" MSoTW-Man. Then I would be The Evil Doctor Bottom

...and remember, folks: It's an AMERICAN band!!! Ha ha ha......ups! I guess I AM The Evil Doctor Bottom!!!!

Just to make sure I'm on the same page, we are speaking of the second mystery track, is that right?

No, it's absolutely wrong. The second track must be Leningrad Cowboys, as I guessed, because there haven't been a "no" from Jon.

This is only for MSoTWMan's Alter Ego:

Niels (that's me) picked the first MSoTW, and nobody has guessed it yet, and Jon picked the second one, and I THINK I've guessed it. The first MSoTW is by an AMERICAN band (it's no clue, I'm only teasing my american friends, and especially MSoTW-Man, who thought he was beaten by some european songs/bands) and the second is not!!!!!

I think I'm lost.  Are we really supposed to be trying to guess the first one or are all those clues bogus?
ALL the clues regarding the first one are NOT bogus, repeat: NOT bogus!! You can trust me, I am not Jon (sorry, Jon) I am The Evil Doctor Butt!!!

I thought you were Evil Dr. Bottom, but you say Evil Dr. Butt!  Either way, your first two initials are E.D., do you know what that stands for medically?

Doctor Butt is what my friends call me. MSoTW-Man can call me Doctor Bottom!! All three initials are of course E.D.B. See how clever I am!!!!
Ooops, not Leningrad Cowboys
