Classic Rock Bottom

Have a confession to make: I really like Pseudo Echo's version of "Funkytown".

Whew. The cat's out of the bag and I can FINALLY live my life in peace.

What I really liked about the song was the totally, awesomely cool geetar solo. When I heard it I was thinking, "Hey, these guys should put out a rock album with more totally awesomely cool geetar solos!"

Guess they thought so too.

This week's album is the followup to 1987's "Love An Adventure" (which, I must stress, contains the awesome "Funkytown") titled "Race", released in 1989.

I'm liking these short, choppy paragraphs!

Anyway, I dunno. I've really tried to get into this album but just never have. You would think that after numerous listens I would find something I like, but I don't (except for maybe the beginning of "Runaways", but then I get this sickly "Neverending Story" flashback with the next song).

Actually, I'm listening to it again and the last song started off with some potential.....

I read somewhere where this was the band's "Van Halen" album, so I picked it up years ago.

Hey, I'm actually liking that last song.......

But there's no Van Halen type stuff I'm catching here. It's pop rock, plain and simple and a departure from their previous dance rock stuff.

Decent geetar solo with that last song.....

They do look like they're ready to rock on that album cover though.

Don't get me wrong though. This isn't a bad album in the Poison/Bon Jovi/Knights In Satan's Service type of bad. It's just not what I wanted or expected.

You typed that on the internet, not your head.

You will suffer. (and that's for the one where I can't post a snappy comeback to)

Here are my thoughts on this weeks posting since were into choppy paragraphs this week....

- Time to let MSOTWman do his thing! Im gonna sit back and wait for the big REVEAL!!!

- Awful start to the LATOW.   Didnt care for that lead off track.

- Kinda surprised at how poppy this is and that Jon owns poppy 80's music.

- More of the same cookie cutter 80's songs.

- A lot of bad keyboards

- The vocalists isnt very good, either that or the choruses are bland, maybe both...

- Seems like Ive heard it all before, yet Ive never heard this band.

- Used store dollar bin?

- Must be my imagination bringing me down?  No, its your music!  hahahaha

- Over half way through and I dont see the redeeming quality...  Should I continue?

- That Runaways track did have a good geetar start, I'll continue....

- Of all 10 tracks, Eye of Storm was the only one that worked out to be just OK.

I guess I didnt like this album, sorry Jon.  Seems like you dont either though.  I always enjoy your posts though, looking forward to the big REVEAL and next weeks post also...

Next week's post will be fun! Cause it's all for YOU.

Pseudo Echo huh?  This definitely has the 80's pop sound.  It's not bad.  The vocalist makes me think of Andy Taylor meets Survivor meets Rick Springfield meets Eddie Money.  Overall however, it's not really for me.  They even sounded like they were going heavier on that last song, and I agree with Scott that it's probably the best one on the album.  Nice post that really fits the thread.

Again, since nobody else answered and Jon has been badgering me:

Song: Red, White And Bullet Blues

Band: Tak Matsumoto

Album: TMG Vol. 1

For the record.... I would just like to state that there was an answer, it was just that nobody pickedup on it...  (Hint:  See the first letter of my bullet list in this thread)

Special Note:  I knew that MSOTWman already had the answer before I posted my reply.  He may have even had the answer before Jon posted!  Who knows the limits to his powers...

Ahh...nice. Didn't even see that.
MSoTWman's powers are waning. WANING I SAY!
